Status: offline 		Does anyone know where I can get details and preferably 3d view of a GEE BEE Model C?

I really like the lines of this little racer and would like to build once for a 40-61 sized engine. I'm in the UK and therefore have no idea if plans exist for this plane in the US. Would appreciate any help or advice.

Status: offline 		Well I have done some more research and have found reference to a couple of Gee Bee Sportsters D and E designed by Henry Hafkke .. but I haven't been able to get much further in my quest. Can anyone provide any further hints as to where I can get hold of any plans ...

Status: offline 		I personally can't see much difference in the C and D models except a slightly different vertical fin shape. Your best bet may be to puchase the Model D kit and modify it where necessary.
A Canadian company called [URL=http://www.soy.on.ca/geebeed.html]Spirit of Yesteryear[/URL] bought the rights to the Henry Haffke D and E models that had previously been owned by Coverite. I can attest to the flying qualities of the E because I owned one for a while. The kits have the same basic parameters except for the forward fuse and cowl. Mine flew really well on a TT46 Pro.

Just got back in here after a long break and saw your post's about the Model C. The only things that were changed between the C and D were the replacement of the non-shock, "spatted" gear and the larger fin and rudder. The fin and rudder change came about because the plane wouldn't meet CAA (now FAA)
standards for spin recovery in the Standard Catagory. The C
was still licenses experimental until the Granvilles installed
the larger tail and it then became NC855Y instead of just 855Y.
It did however keep it's big airwheel's and spatted gear.

Henry Haffke sold plans for a .60 size E and D, I have a set of the D plans but have yet to build it. They are pretty good but he took some liberties with the model. This does not detract from the model though. I can attest to this because I own title to the only Model D that the Granvilles ever built. Sadly I have to put NC855Y on it instead of NC 11043 as a gentelman with a replica has that number. I own a full set of copies of the original factory drawings for the D and E, these also include the C fin and rudder so if you'd like I can provide you with the correct shape if you decide to build the model.

I have not spoken to Henry in many years, actually not long after his Gee Bee book came out in 1989. His book is the best history book of the Granvilles and their aircraft BAR NONE.
