Jerz is using a JR DZ9000t:

Torque: 291 oz/in @ 4.8V, 320 oz/in @ 6V
Speed: .18 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .15 sec/60° @ 6V

Hello Jerz,

Just got an info for a good Futaba Servo, this is the spec. It's a Futaba S9351 Servo. What Servo are you using?

Volts Torque Speed
4.8V 153.0 oz-in. 0.16 sec/60°
6.0V 192.0 oz-in. 0.13 sec/60°

Dimensions Weight
1.6 x 0.8 x 1.5 in. 2.0 oz.

Busta.... nice set wheels you got there... you sure you've been playing with your inferno? it's so clean.. . mine's has dust, dirt, mud, all over.. hehehe. time to clean a bit..

Thanks,
Jojo

Ohhhhhh.... nice set of Servos.... ) how much for those servos? JR DZ9000T. Those that I posted cost around 140US$. Does he use those servos for throttle and steering?

Thanks,
Jojo

JoJo - Im still using the stock Kyosho throttle servo. Its working great so I have no reason to change it. Its funny how guys say you need a faster servo. If I get a servo that is .1 seconds faster..................am I going to start whooping them on the track? Noooooooooooooooo. The only reason I changed the steering servo was because it stripped. You dont need the super duper high powered JR serov that I have. Those Futaba servos look sufficient. I only went with that because my friend who owns a hobby store recommended it. I just want something that will last. I trust him so I got it. If/when my throttle servo fails, ill get a new one.
Nick - I had the same thing happen to my stock engine. I dont know for sure, but to me thats a sign of high tempersture. Mine did run hot. I also had lots of problems with air leaks, and ultimatley the bearings started to leak. Hence I know have an OS V-spec engine in mine. You say yours is running around 240? If my memory serves me correctly, Kyosho recommends 120 deg C which is around 270, 280 deg F? How are you measuring your temps? Can you verify that a different way. I dont know for sure, but I am willing to say the purple coloring of the head is due to high temp. I have blue cooling heads on all 3 of my OS engines and none of them turn purple. Keep an eye on it and try to check the temp a fifferent way, or with a different temp gauge. Try putting a drop of water on the head after you run some high speed passes. If the droplet boils off in about 2 to 3 seconds, then you are running hot. Let me know how you make out. One of the things I like is to know how people make out with their problems, and what they did to find them/fix them. Thats how I learn too.

yeah i was useing my failsafe temp gauge but i think it is wrong. i was at the track today and it got really hot around 320. i stopped running after that to keep from breaking it. it cost me 2 races today im so pissed. i may just end up going for an os if i cant get this sorted out. where would the air leaks be usually in the engine? i dont really have enough experience yet to know where to look or even how to seal it.

Hi Nick,

I have read somewhere (don't remember exactly where). How to check for Engine air leaks. You just need a ToothBrush, Foam/Hand Wash Soap, and some Fuel Tubing. What you do is insert fuel tubing in the carb, cover exposed part with cloth or foam, soak/apply toothbrush with foam/hand wash in the engine, then Blow thru the fuel tubing. You could then see bubbles forming on those air leaks. Seal the air leaks. Hope this helps.

Hi Jerz,
I'm still using the stock Servo on the throttle. But I need to replace the steering throttle as its already broken (front side got head-on first collision with sidewalk gutter ) Steering Servo got whacked. I then need to replace the servo..

Oh, can somebody have a pic of the underchassis of the Inferno? my Inferno got banged big time in the front. I need to see if the whole underchassis is straight or slightly bent on the front.

Thanks,
Jojo

It kicks up at the front. You can check if its bent by checking your dogbones to see if they are completely tight. There should be a few mm of movement. Also undo your chassis braces and see if the holes line up correctly.

The shaft that contain a ball end with a little pin at each end. They run from the centre diff to the fron/rear diff.

Got it.... check the dogbone and its a bit bend on the center, just a bit thought.... and i can still move the dogbone from center to front diff. I'll try to undo the chassis braces and check underneath

Thanks,
Jojo

If the chassis is bent just get another and get some CNC chassis braces. I bent my chassis on my inferno easily. There are a few compromises on the RTR kyosho's that you may want to upgrade. Also get 2 more planetary gears for each diff (so you have 4 total in each) along with diff oil. Put some decent shock oil in the shocks, get a good steering servo and a battery pack. That little lot should sort most of your problems out. If they still come with plastic spur change that to steel too.

Johny, sorry again for being a noob. But what's a planetary gear? and Spur? I know there are 3 differential, Front, Center Back... right? I got a Futaba9451 servo for steering and stocked servo for throttle.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Planetary gears are the small gears inside each diff. As a general rule (but not always) there are 4 inside each diff. The kyosho just has 2. If you ever upgrade the engine these 2 will just not hold out. When you re-build you diffs put diff oil in each. 5000 front 7000 centre and 3000 rear is a good starting point. This will improve the handling of your buggy a lot.
A spur gear is the big gear on the back of your centre diff. This is where the drivetrain receives the power from the engine. Some of the kyosho sports had plastic ones which strip easy though i think the US sport has steel. Just check it anyway to be safe.
