GB - Its the T. I wanted to get an S. The hobby shop got the T by mistake. I noticed it after I installed it. I would only gain something like .03 seconds. Which........................wont make or break winning a race, so I just decided to keep it. Its the same price as the S, so, its staying. Its still plenty fast.
Yes I changed out the brake linkage as well. I didnt see the Kyosho one until after I installed this one. My brother in law has a HOBAO Hyper St tryggy. I liked the linkage on his so I installed one myself. Its a little looser than the stock linkage. It has a swivel on the servo horn rather than the bent metal rods. Plus I can adjust brake bias by turning the thumb knobs instead of moving the lock collars. Not a big deal though. Once I got the brake bias set up the way I wanted it, I havent touched it since.

Well guys (and gals) , here's how it went today at the races :

I had actually wanted to run my new Hyper 8.5 pro kit with the new Futaba 3.4 GHz transmitter, but the engine was giving me troubles. Dying when i opened her up time and again. Was running an 8 plug due to the heat (100+) and humidity (about 85%). Anyway, will look into what's going on whith it after the weekend. So I went back to old trusty and got the MP7.5 fired up just in time for the qualifying round. From there.....

Nerves were well strung. Clean start for me, knew every one was going to hoone it down to the first corner and come together so i hung back slightly. 2nd corner, I'm in 3rd. Coming down the back stretch, I'm in 2nd. (keep cool, breath....) Keep position for next couple of laps, even though I had some time on my back, so did everyone else. It was really evening itself out. Not one car didn't spend some time trying to get a tan on it's belly. The format was just one qualifying race (10 min.) then the A main (15 min). So that meant the top 4 from each race (2 of them) would move into the A main. Having said all that, i knew I wasn't going to be moving on . I didn't have a pit crew . When the car finally ran out of gas, i ran down, filled it and restarted it. It stalled, restarted again. Ran back up the bleachers, and got on the throttle. Not good YANO...

Keeping all this in mind, I came in 5th and posted the fastest lap in my heat. She was totally dialled in and was running a treat. It was a great experience and now I've learned a bit more about this addiction. There's meant to be another race in 2 weeks........ ....me coming with a pit crew this time.

Got pics and will post on Sunday. Gonna upgrade the MP7.5 some more with some stuff from amainhobbies. Also have learned my new servos SUCK the life out of my battery. Gonna upgrade to LIPO with minimum 2000+MaH.

Thanks for all the help.

Tommy, did you actually run up and down to fuel your car yourself?!

That must have been funny too see, but also stressful for you I can guess!! Haha!

Jerz, thanks for the photos. I'll take a look at my car and see how it's set up later.

GB, you're totally right, however my kitchen needs a face lift more then my car needs a new servo currently, so that upgrade is gonna have to wait!

Tommy - That was too funny. I know what you mean about the nerves. Did you get the knee shake too? LOL Man the stinks about losing because you didnt have a pit man. Did you ask anyone to pit for you? I have pitted for others many times. OFNA 8.5? What is that? That doesnt belong on this thread. LOL Glad to hear the ole Kyosho didnt let you down. Keep that in mind the next time you decide on the OFNA over the Kyosho. Good luck next time. Having a pit guy would have kept you up front and into the big show. Youll getem next time.

What was really STUPID on my side were the following.....

All my kit was on the table next to my car, i.e. fuel, bump starter (hooked up to the car battery in the car) glowplug, etc. So not only did i have to come down off the bleachers, i had to run with my buggie back to my prep area, get the car fuelled and started, then back to the pit lane, back up to the bleachers, then back down to the pit lane cause the buggy stalled, then back to my prep area to restart the car, back to the pit lane....then back up the bleachers.....

I bet it looked like something out of Laurel and Hardey . Jerz...that's when the legs started shaking mate...i was a bit tired by then . But i still can't believe after all that i came in 5th place .

Now i know what i need with my pit crew down in the pit lane. Fuel, bumb starter and 12 volt batter, spare glow plug, spare hump battery, tire wrench, spare tire in case i rip one and a glowplug wrench (minimal). I was never able to actually watch a real race to see how it's all done prior to taking part in one. The other worrisome thing i noticed though....BATTERY LIFE. 6v nicd 2000 mha hump battery pack barely lasted one 10min race . That means i really should have TWO fully charged battery packs per car with a speed charger there. I also need to sort out a starter box ideally.

Just out of interest, what kind of batteries are you guys running in your cars??

Thanks again for all the help.

I'm using 4 ordinary GP NiMH rechargable AA batteries @ 1300 MAH, and they last for several tanks without problem. There must be something wrong if you're batteries doesn't last for 10 min!!

Tommy - Ditch the NiCads and get a NiMh pack. You can get something from 1500ma up to 2500ma. Im only using a 1500 ma Ballistic Batteries hump pack and have no problems going the whole race day on one charge. Check out www.amainhobbies.com. On the left click on parts. Then click on batteries. Your choice is endless. Im looking at the Stickman 2500ma hump pack. Looks like a good one and a decent price. I have to agree with ehsan, sounds like something is wrong with your batteries? Or, you are not charging them fully.

As far as racing goes, when I pit and my pit man as well, we keep the following with us.
Starter box
Glow Ignitor
Screw driver
Fuel bottle

Anything that happens with your buggy that will cause you to go a lap or two down is not worth worrying about in my opinion. Starter box and glow ignitor to get it started. Fuel bottle to refuel, and screw driver to give the carburetor needles a quick tune just in case. Thats it for us. Your buggy should be in race ready condition when it comes to a starting line. You should spend your time going over it after each heat and make sure everything is ok. For example. After my last run before the main last week, I did my checks. I found as small tear in one of my front tires. Since the tires I use are the best for my track, I didnt want to change. So I placed a drop of CA on the tear. It closed up the tear and I ran it that way. Its still holding. I go over the buggy from bumper to bumper. Spend about 1/2 hour checking everytihng. That does not include cleaning. Man thats a lot of stuff you bring to the starting line.
But it sounds like you had fun. I assume you will be racing again? Go for it.

Thanks Jerz.

You talking about the "Losi" style or "normal" style?

Also Jerz...I actually didn't bring anything to my pit last time . It was just what i was thinking could be used in the pit for the next time, but you do make sense, keep it simple down there. It gets hectic as it is, any more junk that's not really necessary probably shouldn't be floating around the pit area anyway, eh?

Thanks again.
