tommygun32 - Great race report! You sound like you have got a good race strategy.

R.lepecha - I don't think the 777 body fits as it is a longer chassis

I think the Mugen MBX5R is pretty similar. Why not just get one for a Kyosho 7.5? JConcepts have a great one -

R.lepecha, I faced a big problem getting a shell for my MP7.5 a while back. So what i did was run around town with my Inferno to all the other shops that carried other brand cars but stocked shells for them and just tried as many as i could find to see which (if any) would fit my MP7.5

What i ended up with was a stock 1/8 buggy shell for a Jammin (Hong Nor) buggy that fit quite well with just a bit of cutting. I don't know if that's an option for you mate. Good luck.

Im planning to buy this 1/8 Inferno US Sports Ready set in two weeks..

I have three questions:

1. Will it be better to use a starter box on the stock GXR.28?

2. Do I have to remove the pull starter from the GXR and change it with a back plate before using a starter box?

3. What starter box should I buy? Is the Kyosho multi starter box 2.0 a good choice?

Thanks!

Tommygun, sounds really nice! Sure PM me your setup, it will be in handy for the next club race!

What engine are you running by the way?

I was in a club race 2 weeks ago as well. The second time I've run on a real track and man was it fun! We where around 10 people and I qualified to the finals and ended up in 6th position, lol. We had 4 qualifying rounds, 1 semi final and the final. The week earlier I broke my servo so I bought a Futaba S3306 servo. I've uploaded photos and a video on my blog, you can watch it here:

I have a question for the next race.

I have 2 sets of springs for my buggy. The stock soft springs which followed with the buggy, and a pair of blue hard longer springs from the 777 buggy.

The soft springs make the buggy easily bottom out, hence I prefer the harder ones when bashing around. But I was told for the club race to switch to the softer ones since it's a sandy track and hence soft springs are important to have better grip.

Anyhow I'm wondering when is it appropriate to use soft springs on the shocks and when is it good to use hard springs? How do they affect the buggy?

the hard springs are good for a smoother track but the softer ones are better for a rougher track so the suspension can soak up the bumps.

a starter box is always recommended, you don't have to remove the pull start...there are a ton of good boxes, i use the OFNA Chrome Top, it's perfect for 1/8 vehicles

Depends if you prefer to pull on a starter or carry a box. Personally if the car has a pull-starter i would use that.

2. Do I have to remove the pull starter from the GXR and change it with a back plate before using a starter box?
No.

3. What starter box should I buy? Is the Kyosho multi starter box 2.0 a good choice?
never used that one. i use an ofna one

Hmm, could you expand on that a bit more. What is meant with a smooth track and what is meant with a rough track?
