Get the Spektrum DX3R. Awesome system. I know a guy who runs the OS .21 VG. Decent engine. I dont have any experience with any of the others you have listed. OS .21 V-SPEC for me. All the way.

Hi Jerz.

I am tossing up between the Futaba 3PKS and Spektrum DX3R. Which of these do you prefer?

I ran a Futaba for years. Quit the hobby, then got back in to it 3 years ago. I bought a Spektrum because they were the first (at least I think they were) with the spektrum technology. So I figure go with the first out, not the imitators. A few guys have the new DX3R where I race. My brother in law has one coming tomorrow. I cant tell you how it works.................yet. But I have held one. Its really light and the ergonomics are very nice. Very comfortable radio to hold. Its suppposed to be a good radio system. Pricing isnt bad either. Ill be sticking with my DX3.0. No need for me to change radios. Let me see......baby food and diapers, or new radio. Ill go with the baby stuff. LOL Both are good, maybe almost equal. But me personally, Im sold on the Spektrum line of radios.

Well, I ran the Spek's for few years and I liked them an awful lot, a guy at the LT ran the Fut,
they both do the same job.....personal prefrence......pick either you wont be dissapointed.

Ehsan, after running the Spektrum radio it'll will do what you need, so stick with it and save the extra money, thats $45.
As far as your motor choices are it looks like your budgeting around $300 well consider an RB Concepts motor and pipe combo,
they're easy to tune and will run strong and hard, heres a couple options to look into. Great motors for the money...

Look around and find the best deal you can on this box.....it will start everything you throw at, just remember to pre-heat your
motor during the break in period.

Although like you mentioned your a newbie.....we all started there, but theres no need to spend your money twice, buy yourself
some quality gear the first time around and it make youre experiances more pleasent.
Hope this helps...

Thnx for the tip guys.

ArcticCat, you're right about not spending the money twice. For me it all comes down to what pricing I will get the buggy for and what is included. If pipe and engine is included I will use them up and buy a proper engine and pipe for the next season. So let's see how things work out. I'll notify you when I have found a buggy I'm buying.

When it comes to radio I think I'll go wit the Spektrum DX2, it seems to have all I need and is cheaper then the Futaba. Besides Futaba are rather ugly.

The OFNA starterbox seems good but I think I'll go with the Kyosho since many have recommended it and I like the way it is. But I might change my mind if I see a good deal.

If you go with the DX2 line make sure it's the DX2.0 and not the DX2. The DX2 is the older version.

AAHHHHH. I just won an auction on eBay!

It was a bit of chancing to purchase the car. GB77 helped me contact the seller to answer my questions but I didn't receive any reply since we mailed him today. Anyhow I followed the auction and at the final moment I decided to go for it. The auction was the following:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250261259718

As you can see the interior of the car is barely visible and he hasn't stated how much the car has been driven and how many gallons have been through the engine. Anyhow I got a Sirio Kanai engine and pipe and some strong Ko Propo servos with it as well as an extra chassi, arms, tires and a few other candy. So I figured even though the engine might be doing its last the price for the package was still cheap enough so it's worth it. I got it for approx. 450USD including shipping and handling. What do you think guys, was it a bargain or am I a bit crazy to have purchased something I'm not entirely sure of?

Anyhow I'll keep you posted how it goes. Wish me the best of luck.

251 Euro. 285 Euro including Shipping & Handling. Then I got: Sirio Kanai Engine, EFRA legal pipe, 2 Ko Propo high torque servos and extra chassi, tires, shock towers and arms.

Ehsan - At that price, even if the motor is cactus, I think it is a decent deal. Good work!

Eshan - I dont believe the DX2.0 has a lap timer function. The DX3.0 does. I raced yesterday. Qualified 4th in the A-Main. After a terrible start, I managed to claw my way back up to a 4th place finish. Nothing broke so a good day. Oh I should mention my fastest qualifyer until yesterd
