Welcome back REEG. I was wondering where you disappered to? RAM, what is that epoxy you have on your stinger? I need some for the stinger on my 1/10th scale stadium truck pipe. I remember my dad having something that looked exactly like that. It could stand up to an earthquake. Strongest stuff I ever saw.

The epoxy we use in South Africa is called Pratley steel -- it works like nothing on earth --- my dad also uses it to repair about everything metal --
How old are you guys by the way ? I'm 30 -- almost off the calendar ....... ha ha ha

Hi where are you guys these days ? I've finally sorted out my kyosho inferno - the clutch was slipping or was worn out already -- that is why I couldn't set the car & why it was moving on it's own --- i wasn't even accelerating but the car was picking up speed -- I replaced the clutch myself --- I enjoyed doing it myself actually -- I have set the car but yesterday I picked up another problem -- Fuel was leaking out on the side of the engine -- one of the engine screws actually fell out -- probably fell out when the car flipped over while I was on some bumpy part of the park where I was driving --- I took off the engine & sealed up the two pieces & replaced the missing screw -- The idling etc. is now almost perfect -- While I was replacing the screw I tightened up all screws I could get to -- Most of them were loose -- The rough terrain must have loosened them up --- I'm planning to fit a racing clutch -- Is this a good idea ? and should I also fit a racing flywheel ? My brakes are not catching as well as they used to -- Can I adjust them with the servo ? or should I replace them -- Please help ------- Thanks

REEG - A good habit to get into is tighten all screws on a regular basis. I tighten everything after each heat/main. If you are bashing, you should make that part of your after run procedure. A few extra minutes can save you some serious headaches and reduce the strain on your wallet.
What did you find wrong with your clutch? Worn shoes? Broken/stretched spring? Clutches are often forgotten by most RCer's. Probably because its no easily seen, and most clutch access requires removing the engine to get to it. I neglect my clutch sometimes for these reasons, but try to look at it routinely.
What after maket clutch/flywheel are you looking to purchase and why? I dont upgrade unless I have continual problems with a particular part. For example, My engine started going down hill after about 2 gallons of fuel through it. There were several air leaks (which I repaired) leaking fuel from the front bearing, erratic tuning, (Had to tune it every time I ran it), and it ran extremely hot. After loosing opportunities to bump up to the A-Main, and loosing opportunities to get good A-Main finishes because of this eninge, I replaced it. Plus the countless hours of wrenching on this, I got tired of wasting my time.
Congrats on your successful repair of the clutch. Its very satisfying to troubleshoot a problem, then do the repairs on your own. Theres no better way to learn about your buggy

Hi Jerz -- What type of racing clutch do you recommend with my GXR28 engine ? The clutch I replaced was worn on the outside & the spring was fairly loose/stretched.
The brakes are not catching as they used to -- can I adjust it with the servo ?
I'm racing on the 28th of October -- I've eventually found a decent track at a local club -- I'll be practicing this weekend just to get the feel of the track etc. -- If I like it I'll join the club ... I'm racing as a guest at the moment.
In time I wanna get the Kyosho GT onroad car --- so I have the benefit of off road & on road racing.
Wish me luck.

REEG - You can adjust your end point adjustment on your throttle/brake servo to give you more servo throw (movement) to apply the brakes. You can also adjust the collars individually on the front/rear brake arms as well. I prefer this method. I like to have a little more brake bias to the rear (meaning the rear brakes will be a little stronger than the front) which enables me to slide the rear out a little while in a corner. Makes for a quicker turn for me. If it saves a tenth of a second in each turn......... I'm that much faster. Check your brake pads too. I can see mine starting to wear a little now. As far as racing clutches.........I dont have much exposure to them. I would caution you though if you do decide to install one. Make sure it fits! You can buy a clutch, then maybe you'll need a new conical washer, clutch nut, bearings, who knows? When I installed my OS .21 V-Spec engine, it was not a bolt on and run modification. The Kyosho fly wheel and clutch nut needed a little modification to ithem. I got it to work just fine, but it wasnt a direct bolt on replacement. I had to reconfigure the engine mounts too which was a pain.
Check Amainhobbies.com. Click on the MP 7.5 Inferno buggy. They have a few different style clutches that should botl right on. They are pricey however. I recommend A-Main very much. I purchase mst of my parts from them. Decent prices, and ship pretty quick.
Oh, and GOOD LUCK RACING! Let me know all the details.

Increase your budget just a little bit and get an OS .21 V-SPEC. I have one. WOW. You dont want to skimp when it comes to engines. You get what you pay for. Shop around and you should be able to find one for under $300.

Zain - I am about 90% done with mold #2 but Im still not happy with it. Using plaster is difficult to shape. I read another article that recommends using wood. Being I have a fully stocked wood shop at home.................why didnt I think of that? LOL So I am going to make one out of wood. I was making some drawings and decided on a design. The drivers compartment is going to be a little further towards the front of the buggy. By about 1/2". The shape of the compartment is going to look like the Miss Budweiser Hydro plane racing boat. Behind that its going to dip down to expose the cooling head more. Then sweep back up towards the shock tower. Going to make the back end of the body a little aerodynamic. The body is going to have a lot more gradual curves than the traditional body. Make it a little more stealthy looking. Going to make it look like no other body around. So as far as the project goes, it was two steps forward and 10 steps backward. LOL I guess its a good thing. I want to make this right, so taking the time with the mold is crucial. I pulled out some wood last night and glued the pieces together. Like I said I have a fully stocked/functional wood shop. So Ill cut out the basic shape on the band saw. Then I can use different cutting tools to make the basic shape. Then I have different sanders to fine tune the shape and make it smooth. The last step is detail with the dremel. I think using the wood will be so much easier and the end result will be much better. Plus it will be lighter. I think my plaster mold weighs about 20 pounds. LOL I will have a pictorial going on this. Pictures at each mile stone through completion.
On the buggy itself, I totally disassembled and cleaned it. I fabricated a front chassis stabilizer bar and it works great. I took apart all the diffs, cleaned and inspected them. They all look good. I added two more spider gears to each diff and refilled them with diff oils. The extra spider gears just make the diffs much stronger. So the buggy now sits all cleaned up, with a few more upgrades and is waiting for its new lid. Ill keep ya posted.

Hello guys.
I don´t know if this is the right forum but since is about the inferno US I thinks it´s ok.
The first 1/4 gallon I used in the car was the top fuel from traxxas 20%. Then when it´s gone I bougt the Ritch´s 20%. It wast then the problems started:
It was really hard to start the engine since the first time and every time I could do it the idle is very high (basically the car is driving itself around). I couldn´t find a regulation where the idle and the temperature is ok and the engine doesn´t stop.
Yesterday I measured the temperature and for my surprise it´s hitting the 180 Celsius degrees (Kyosho´s manual recommends 120 celsius).
So I need some direction to find the correct set up and some reference on the temperature.
Thanks
Oscar
