I saw a post recently about crashing into corn so I thought I would give my theories:

Certain types of vegetation and even trees possess an energy phenomenon known as "Disastrous Aviation Magnetic Negative Inverse Thrust" (or the acronym DAMNIT for short). It's basically a gravitational attraction to the high density of chlorophyll in plants and trees.

Basically the way it works is that trees absorb oxygen which is air. Your airplane needs air to fly. When flying close to trees they 'suck' the air from around your plane. That is why so many people crash into trees.

I'm not a botanist so I cannot explain why it happens with corn or beans but I'm thinking it may be a similar theory called "Ocular Height Corrected Reflex Adjusted Phenomenon" (or the acronym OHCRAP for short). As I understand, it's when the plane blends into the colors or texture of the surrounding corn or beans and the height or distance is misjudged causing a sharp reflex action to adjust for the error but is usually too late to recover. I think this can also cause a person to crash into trees as well.

I know these exist because I hear the acronyms quoted a lot when I'm at a field. It seems that the ones who crash know the forces that caused the accident but I am at a loss as to why they didn't fly to prevent the accident to begin with.

Another force I've observed is called "Stalls Happen In Time" and evidently this seems to be the most common cause of crashes since I hear this acronym the most.

This is true, the Aliens that picked me up last night said they had trouble with this too.

well whatever force it is...it caused a guys elevator to shear off today, driving yet another plane into the realm of the children of the corn....

You heard that term for wild crazy stunting ...HUCKIN....?

Maybe the term for the never ending hunger of the corn fields should be ...SHUCKIN !!!!

it is the crop circles that bring your plane down

what about the one where your plane is eerily drawn to a spot between you and the sun and then you hear it crash behind you? i could swear it was teleported there...

what about flying THROUGH a tree? i saw my instructor do that to someone elses plane whilst he was maidening it... there was blue monokote and balsa wood everywere!

also, our field is rented to us by a farmer and we have only a small patch at the top of the field to fly from so the rest of the field is horrible, hard rocky terrain that has claimed many-a-aeroplane, it seems that whenever someone overshoots the landing strip during a dead stick landing, even with plenty of speed they always seem to drop like a brick onto the rough stuff, this is what we call, Yoshi Oberlanders Ram Sequence Conunteractive Reaction and Eeerie Weirdness (YOURSCREWED for short"

I seroiusly think its the crop circles that cause some crashes. Since aliens spacecraft leave high levels of radiation. My guess is that the radiation cause interference with radios. But I don't fly near em.

Our field has a levy on one end.. its amazing watching it SNAG planes right out of the sky ! The worst thing is when you hit it..you seldom hit the top..you usually DRIVE into the backside..then roll down into the ditch which often has running water...
