Is this engine of Longer stroke design or more like the shorter version? I guess it dosn't matter if it runs smooth.

Tom,

I don't think that would matter at all since Q500 engines don't turned high enough RPM's to throw blade. Regardless if it's super smooth or normally balanced like the current Q500 engines such as the Jett and Nelson SS. With that said, I've put my name on the backlog list to get one based on their race test report. I hope it's good as it sound, but we'll find out sooner or later.

The Nelsons for use with 15% nitro have 11mm passages. The 12mm cranks are for the other markets that use FAI fuel and larger intake openings.

Hi
These are Q500 LS with 9mm carbs for nitro fuel, Dave Shadel said that all the Nelsons now have large gas passages, as I asked him why my motors had 12mm cranks fitted.

Interesting, he lists both 11 and 12mm on his website. With the SS's, the 12mm was only for no nitro.

Mario,
Are you sure about those measurements? That bore seems big.

Sounds like 0.846 x 0.708 or so to me.. familiar numbers.

Yep, sounds ok. I guess I just never thought of them in metric measurements.

Me, too - that's why I did the conversion! 21.5 did sound big. You gotta admit, 21.5 is a whole lot more sensible number than 0.846, right?

Why does 21.5 sound better than 0.846?

Yeah, it makes TOTAL SENSE to base the measurement on 1/10,000,000 the distance from the equator to the north pole.

Almost as much sense as basing it on Roman walking...

The term mile has been around since the time of the Roman Empire, but it has acquired many different meanings over the centuries. The Roman army devised the unit of a mille passus, or 1,000 double paces, later referred to simply as a milion. Since two paces was equal to 5 feet, the Roman mile was 5,000 Roman feet in length. The unit of a foot also comes down to us from Roman times, but the Roman foot was only 11.65 inches in length when compared to the modern dimension. A Roman mile is therefore the equivalent of 4,850 feet, 1,615 yards, or 1,479 meters in modern dimensions.
