HI Troy

Question about incidence, I glued the stab without checking the incedence. I did check it after eveything was dry and came out 1/4 degree positive at the root and it increases as I go out to the tip of the stab. So, I set the wing incedence to 3/4 degree positive at the root to make up for the stab. Will this adversely affect the performance? And if so, to what degree (no pun intended). By the way I used one of those laser pointer type meters.

Status: offline 		Well it will affect it...for sure....But the question is how much. Likely you will end up with a push to the belly in uplines. And your elevator trim will not track with the stabs...This will make for a speed sensative elevator.

Can it be overcome with some creative mixing...probably yes, and will it be bad enough to really mess things up...probably not...but it will not be as good as doing it right the first time.

You can fly it and trim it and we'll see how thing flush out...if its bad then cut it out and do it again...but I would not do that today....Fly it and trim it out first. You might be better off with a slightly low wing incidence and just taking the elevator trim that ends up there....

But fly it first and see what happens.

I spoke with Dave at Piedmont today, he basically said the same thing you said about flying it first then see what happends. I did discuss the increasing incidence of the stab. He said to warm it up with a heat gun and gently twist it until the incedence is straight from the tip to the root. While it is not correct to have that 1/4 degree positive in the stab he felt it would not affect the performance a great deal. He also said as you to fly it and if it is a problem to cut it out and reset it.

I cant find where you drill the holes at the hard points in the wing panels. The instructions say to use a #43 drill, tap the hole with a 4-40 tap the secure the wing with a 4-40X 3/4 screw. Is this how you did it? or is there a more secure way.

Status: offline 		Hold you wing panel so that it reflects the light.
Roughly 8" out from the root on the black and yellow striping you will see the outline of the hard point.

There are other ways but they involve a lot more work and will accomplish nothing other than to hide the 4-40 screw heads.
The method used on the Focus Sport is well known and well tested.

What I actually meant was that I cant find where you WROTE about drilling the holes in the hard points. What I am concerned about is, how well does the screw fasten and hold the wing. Did you just drill the hole and insert the 4-40 and tighten it down or did you do anything else to insure that it would not back out during flight.

Status: offline 		drill and tap the hardwood block that is in the wing. Another option is to epoxy a short section of dowel into the wing tube and drill and tap that hardwood block for the 4-40 bolt.

Tap, then Thin CA, let it soak in and cure. Then tap again. Then CA...and so on the threads will become very strong...

There is nearly zero force needed to keep the wings on the model. The screw just keeps the wing from sliding off the tube....

I don't know about yours, but it seems to me that there is something wrong with my firewall. When I look at my Focus Sport, I am wondering where is the right thrust.

Status: offline 		Well The firewall has no thrust in right or down thrust. The angled block in the photo behind you engine mount is what gives the thrust offset.

Does you engine align with the nose of the cowling meaning a equally spaced gap when the cowl is installed. If it does then you thrust line is pretty close to right.

I have not made any changes to the thrustline of my model.

So if it aligns with the cowl you are correct. In your photo to me it looks like the engine has right thrust in it...The firewall does not have any offset its all created by the spacer block.
