Yes, I confirm what the plan says : 95" and 68".

Steve,

For the size of the main wheels : don't have a ruler here but they are just a bit smaller in diameter than a CD-Rom (!). I guess 1/2" less.

Great to hear from you again ; thought of you recently because your birthday is always on a very pleasant day for me : the first day of the summer holidays !

Yes, I do think that would be a great match, only should coat the fiberglass bypass at the rear with BVM Heatshield or replace with a metal bellmouth, looks a bit tricky with the turbines in that thrust range (I speak of experience : they manage to melt down my good old transparant SJ bypasses hehehe). But for a creative genius like you, it's not even worth mentioning !

I'm very pleased with my purchase ands the good price I got from Rotor Hobbies in Singapore !

The wheels are huge and the trailed link style, so grass should be a piece of cake. That is an important point for me as our club is grass only and they don't really maintain it well .
Here's a pic of me and my youngest son Edouard at the field making his dad proud, you can barely see his toes in the grass... and length was OK that day...

it is exactly the same size as the airworld model

i had one of those
i will power it with a ulysses (130-140N) plenty of power
the airframe is light

Yes the fuselage is in two parts, bolted together just behind the canopy with four M4x25mm bolts., so you have two parts of about 45 and 50 inches (front and rear, respectively)
The size of the original shipping box is very reasonable if you consider the size of the plane.
Total weight of the box(in kit state) is 18 kgrs... I hope they will allow me to check it in as baggage !

Status: offline 		I just bought it two days ago on my way to Indonesia for business when making a stop-over in Singapore, kit is still there in the shop, now I have only the plans and the dreams with me, no building or flying done yet. I go home next week and will pick it up on my return stop-over, and you can bet it won't take a long time for the maiden flight after I'll get my turbine in 3 weeks from now.

Mick Houselander has finished and flown his...

I have it on good authority that it flew very well, very stable and landings at walking pace; apparently the U/C is very good and well-matched.

I have some 'team members' building them but have yet to fly...

I have also had my eye on this bird in the red, white and blue scheme. I have 2 questions?? I have an older US AMT AT400 electric start that has been flawless and produces 40 lbs of thrust, would this work in the JL L-39 or would it rip the wings off. I am not concerned about scale flight etc, I have this turbine on the shelf and would rather use this motor, than go out and buy another turbine. 2nd question, I have looked at the Digitech web page and it says very little about the gear and struts they produce for the JL L-39. Are the stock gear that bad, or acceptable with jet-A1 just as a "pimp your jet" type of addition?? Thanks in advance for some insight.

I have had the gear in my hands and it looked really very nice quality and designed for this one, not a quick and easy solution ; as for me, I do not see a reason of any kind (yet) why to change to another set. I expect, judging by the size of the wheels and oleos, that this plane will not suffer from any rough landing strip. Besides, a few pilots confirmed already this bird lands at walking pace so I think you really should abuse it before it hurts in the wallet. I assume you'd rip out wooden bulkheads first before damaging this gear.
I'll post lots of pics of this kit and contents next weekend.
PS. The other pilots are for the time being at JetPower, drooling for more, so they will be silent for some days !

As concerns transportation by car, the size of the (single) carton is 45 x 48 x 148 cm (2,54 cm = 1 inch) so it is hard to believe the whole plane comes out of that single box, so should not be a problem to tranport by car. In the worst case, you can take off the front of the fuselage by means of those 4 bolts.
