On those that are flying what is the nuetral like on the aileron. I find at centre there is quite a bit of play, say 2-3mm movement either way. I can't put a bush in as the rod sort of arcs as it moves. Is this normal?

It sounds like your aluminum drive rod is not perfectly centered and/or aligned with the rotation axis of the aileron. Mine has very little slop, and the drive rod does not move around as it rotates.

Last, I Hysoled the drive shaft in place and Loctited the set screws for safety...can't see where it would ever need to be removed.

Hi Barry,

I thought that at first but it is locked into the cutout and lined up prfectly. I'm going to have another look at the horn on the rod, Mine is not completely vertical and I think this my be causing some of the movement. I'm going to set it straight up and see if that helps

Well, I just got my kit. whoo hoo!!

The question I have is with the flap hinges. If I cut the holes in the flaps at the marked location, the front portion of the flap hinge will line up with the trailing edge of the wing on the two inner hinges. In fact the hinges will be visible when looking at the training edge. I am thinking this would be bad. Anyone else have a similar situation, or is it not going to be a problem?

From your picture it looks as though the hingeline is in the proper location, but it seems as though the trailing edge of the wing will have to be cut clean through to mount the hinges and I'm worried that there will not be sufficient strength to hold the flap in place.

I guess what I'm asking is that when you cut the slots in the wing for your flap hinges, could you see the hinge mounting hole when looking at the trailing edge of the wing or was there wood all the way from the root to the tip?

I may have to take a pic of what I'm referring to. Not sure if I'm explaining it well.

I think I get it now....

If you look closely at the lower wing and flap skins, you'll see some inscribed lines that mark where the hinge cutouts should be made. There are wood blocks underneath. Make the slots slightly long (1/64" or so) so you have some play to get the hinges lined up properly.

I had to do some sanding on the outboard upper corner of the flap to prevent it from binding at full deflection. Test fit everything before gluing in the hinges.

Mine doesn't have marks for the flap hinges in the wings, but they are marked on the flaps.

I'm also noticing that many of the parts don't match the plans as close as I'd like. I was hoping to take measurements from the plans and transfer them to the parts, but doesn't look like that's gonna work.

Don't trust the plans, there are a number of inaccuracies. I never really had to use mine.

I cut the slots in the flaps as marked but may have had to move them forward or back a bit - do a search on this thread and there should be some info. Then tape the flaps in place and use the hinges to locate where the slots need to be cut in the wing.

Well I could not get rid of the slop in the aileron so I went to plan B. On the uinderside of the wing there is a panel line which is the same size and shape as the flap hatch but infron of the aileron!! so it has been cut ou and the inside boxed and layed ith carbon cloth and Iwill mount my servo in htere. Sure it's an external linkage but at least Iknow I won't have the slop I was getting before.

Hi every one
I had my maiden today what a fly-er ,the first flight C.G to Far back but it still flew OK I had it at 130mm from leading edge so I added more weight for the second flight now it handled much better ,I had four flight all together unfortunately I slowed it down to much on the fourth flight and broke the main gear brackets my own fault
Power is very nice with Sim jet 3000 I had still 1.8 litres left after 7 minutes that is of course with the extra tank that I added 1 liter
I did check the wing bars after the last landing and every thing is OK but I did insert the alu bars as recommended by you guys

Hi John did you get in any more flights

happy flying
