Hi -
Figure this was good as place as any to show this. I am a machinist by hobby not by trade. Those who know me, know that I have a very small CNC Mill. Now I have something better. My very own VERY LARGE CNC Routing Table.
Can cut wood, plastic, carbon fiber, aluminum, light steel, brass etc... The cutting area is right under 6 foot by 4 foot. The linear bearing are made from normal roller flanged bearing. It is at the moment a 3 axis machine good for 2D & 2.5D work.
I can open most any DXF CAD file and cut most any design that falls within the 2D 2.5D work.
In the future I plan to get where I can do 3D but will take some time.

Here is how that picture of moses holding the ten commandments came out. I did this in Vectric VCarve for the picture and tool paths. Then sprayed the MDF board with textured paint then cut it out on the machine.

thats cool...you could probly make all kinda of designs and sell them and make some money out of this
Exactly - Take my Hyper 7 mount that I did for the brushlessconversion and a few other items I have designed and put them on Ebay or something. Plus other things that I make, not just RC stuff.

Neat! I have been wanting to get a small CNC for hobby use myself, I would like to start my own brand of rc aftermarket.
Quick question though, how often do you use the lathe in relations to the mill. Me and my uncle have bene looking at combo packages but were not too sure about the relevance in needing the lathe very often.

It all depends on what you want. I use the lathe less often than the mill or router. Now I cut most everything on the router than mill. Just easier because of the extra work area, can do much bigger parts. Will be adding a 4th axis (rotary) to the router which will make it where the lathe would be more for hand done work only in the future.
