I have a 977 that is just a few months old and it used to work fine, now it is having problems.
When I Try to charge on channel A the charger shuts off in about 2 to 3 minuets. Then I start the charging of my batteries again, and it seems to charge, however, it only charges to about 1100 - 1400 mAh and then shuts down.

I have charged on channel B the other day and I had a 2500 mAh pack charge to 3996 mAh.
Having to babysit the charger is getting a bit aggravating

Is there something wrong with my SB 977?

I am charging 4 AA 1.2 NiMH at a time.

I am using older and newer batteries.
The batteries probably got a little warm on the 3996 mAh charge.
I even purchased new batteries to make sure that it wasn't my batteries.

Using the following settings
Amps .5
Cells 4
mV 20

Then I hit start.

Charger never has been taken out to the track,,
as I charge all of my batteries before I go.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have only one suggestion is to look into a connection/leads problem from charge to battery. You might wiggle stuff while watching the voltage with a seperate voltmeter since the display voltage goes up and down normally. When it acts up push the display button to read the 2 digit stop code. It will at least tell you why it stopped. If it is 00 that is a normal peak detect stop. It must be read DURING THE TRICKLE CHARGE.

00 normal stop
01 fast peak
02 slow peak
03 voltage spike
04 resistance too high?
05 programmed time end
06 programmed capacity end
07 timed out
08 discharge end

Perhaps Tim or the engineer can elaborate on more specific meanings of the codes for carification.

You could send it in and let us look at it. I would wait for a lull in the racing until you send it in. Also, follow the instructions provided by GUVER to tell the termination code when the charger shuts off. Also, it could be something as silly as a loose connector. Are you still using the Tamiya connectors? Are the screw terminals for the banana jacks on "A" still tight? Check it out and let me know.

I have the super brain 977 and it charges fine on A but on B it will not charge. On the B side it shows 12.68 volts with no battery plugged in.
