The Northern Virgina and FARM RC Clubs are pleased to host the VA State Championship Pattern Contest. The FARM club has been very generous in allowing the use of their field for this event. This site is flown at a 3000 foot private full scale airfield. On site camping is allowed; as a primitive camping site. This site is off Hwy 17 between I-95 and I-66.

Pilots meeting is planned for 0900 on the 22nd.

Directions to Rhynalds Landing Flying Site:
From 495 (the Capitol Beltway): I 66 West to Gainesville, Exit to Rt. 29 south - Warrenton, follow Rt. 29 bypass south to Opal, left on Rt. 17 south towards Fredericksburg for approx. 8 miles (watch for Hugo’s Skating Rink on left), right on Savannah Branch Rd., 200 yds. to 1st right at Rhynalds Landing.
From the South via Rt. 29: Rt. 29 north to Opal, right on Rt. 17 south towards Fredericksburg for approx. 8 miles (watch for Hugo’s Skating Rink on left), right on Savannah Branch Rd., 200 yds. to 1st right at Rhynalds Landing.


From the South via I 95: I 95 north to Fredericksburg, exit at Rt. 17 north, follow Rt. 17 approx. 17 miles, left on Savannah Branch Rd., 200 yds. to 1st right at Rhynalds Landing.

Good contest Randy and a great thanks to all those who attended. Those who missed it - a Pitts performing an aerobatic routine, fly-by's by a WACO, and before the competition started on Sunday morning, a pilot gave free Piper Cub rides to four of the kids who were present or competing in the contest.

Not to mention the great weather, great site and relaxed atmosphere! Next year I'll bring an airplane to fly!!

Thanks to every one who attended. We had a great contest with a lot of added attractions. For the DC area the good new was it was mostly a sportsman and intermediate contest. We had 11 sportsman and the top three will be added to the intermediate group next year. This is good news for those of us in the DC area who are trying to grow a new crop of pattern flyers. Paul from the VA Beach area came and flew advanced after a 10 year break. Seeing as he won Advanced he did not seem to have lost the touch.

We could have used more upper level flyers.
