I have a ft-160 twin engine from o.s. engines and the problem I have is when i start the engine an let it run for about a minute then I have it at idle and quickly move the throtle all the way and what it does is it starts to bog down and wanting to shut off but I can keep it going only if I quickly move the throtle back to tdle posistion. my que. is does this have to do with the timing of the engine valves? like do i have to reset the gap to 1000th of an inch?

I have a feeler gauge but the other problem is one of the allen screws is stripped &*^%! so what can I do to unscrew it being me a not knowing how to fix a stripped screw? It will be my first time to do that.

I haven't adjusted the engine valves for like 2years ago that was the last time was adjusted. Maybe it's time again?

Also, fuel seems to be kinda leaking around the carburater. The engine was in a super cub that crashed, i stalled it and the nose hit into the soft grass not head on but gradually into the ground, so i dont see any cracks around the carbuator its all pretty miuch tght.

Would it be better off to send it into service? If so who do I send it to? to Global industries? Can someone give me an addres? thanks

It's difficult to say what causes your engine to run erratically. It could be tuning, it could be something in the fuel system, or something in the engine can be broken. The fuel leak around the carb indicates that there's a problem there, unless it's simply siphoning from a too-high fuel tank.

The valves are set such that a 0.04mm feeler gauge will fit and a 0.10 mm feeler won't.

I should mention that I don't have a warranty still it is ten years old so I'll have to pay out of pocket.
