I find that the Mini Showtime suffers from a very weak structure. My wings and fusalage both failed about thirty seconds into the maiden voyage. The LG seemed to hold up well,, only one takeoff, not used for the landing. Who would have thought that an encounter with a pine tree would have such an effect? I mean the Mini Showtime was only traveling about thirty mph when It hit the tree! Oh,, the carnage!!!

(I hope all that read this fully understand that the above post is all in jest. The crash was 100% my fault and not the fault of the Mini Showtime. For 30 seconds it was absoulty great !)

Yeah, same here. The 260 is such a nice flying plane, I think E-flight has this small electric thing figured out. The MiniShowtime has more wing area,, should be a real floater.

I love this plane. Started flying again at the begining of summer with a foamie cub. Moved up to the 260edge and then bought this. My friends have larger planes and both have the larger showtime and are very impressed with this.

That's a bummer about your plane. I hit a light pole before with my foamie - also not a great idea. What were you doing at 30 mph? That's your problem. If you had been flying 3D (1-2 mph) you may have fared better.

Short version,, I ask too much from the BEC on my speed controller. This Spectrum stuff is rather intollerant of low voltage. I am NOT bashing any manufacture of any components. It was my mistake in set up. Remember, this was a maiden flight and was sorta high just trimming and feeling her out. First outside snap,, four servos at max deflection,, voltage drop from BEC,, Spectrum signed off, radio in failsafe. Vertical decent arrested by a pine tree. I orignally left out details so it does not sound like product bashing.
Different setup for the next one. THE SPECTRUM STAYS!!! Will run a seperate BEC now.

Ok, got it?

Hey Taildragger, what ESC were you using? We run our basic 40 amp with our S75 servos all day long and don't have any problems with it. Sorry to hear about the loss. The Mini Showtime flies great I will say.

Ha, John I'm not going there,,,but it was not one of yours. Servos were Hitec HS-65's.(it was over two years old and a little under sized, all my fault). But I appreciate your concern.

Not the battery Nitro Wing,,, the BEC in the speed controller. I had used an underrated speed controller and the BEC could not 'keep up'.

I hate that you lost after such a short flight. Just picked up a Mini Showtime myself and highly reccomend the use of a seperate BEC. I had anE-lite extra 260 and loved it but had the same problem with the internal BEC of the ESC that I was using. The 260 splinters the same way. I was using DS285s. Hope the showtime flies as good as the 260.

Just picked up a Mini Showtime from the LHS. I'm a bit of a low timer on the sticks. Have time in on the MUS, and Pulse, the manual has suggested low and high rates, but no Expo suggestions. Will be using pretty standerd stuff.
E480/1020
40amp ESC
Spectum DX6
E 75 servos
Any links or building tips are more than welcome.
Hoping to due more pattern like flying rather than the 3D thing.

Years ago, an ancient seer, sooth-sayer and philosopher once said; "We learn from experience, right????" From now on........go one step up on the rating of your ESC, and you will not have to be concerned about this issue in the future. When using 4S packs, a BEC is going to be your friend! Now, was that a PINE tree..........or a PALM tree that caught your Mini Showtime?
