Would the Zenoah GT-80 on the H9 Sukhoi be enough power for imac/3D?

There is more than enough power for IMAC competition.
While I don't know about 3D, Horizon says it is OK.
I have seen Mike McConville fly his which has a ZDZ80 single in it.

I dont recommend the GT 80!!!! For IMAC it could work, but for 3D , I dont think is the best choice. I have seen it with a ZDZ 80 and works good

If you have one then go for it. The GT-80 might not be the best but it is still a fine engine. Besides the Suk needs nose weight anyway.

my post is not for this thread exactly but i dont want to start a new one.. so could Hitec`s 805s handle H9 sukhois torque for 3d movements?

just intrested cause they are so cheap.. around 40$ and torque is 24kg/6.0 volts.

You mean for the rudder I presume, I would say yes, this is one monster servo that boogies.

is there any reason why not use 805 for every control surface? i dont want to pay 100$ for each servo.. 5*40$ = 200$ or 5*100$=500$ hmm which should i choose, its obvious to go for cheaper, but why not to go?? lack of speed of the servos?

On the H9, they would be physically too large and heavy.

I suppose if you would install one per wing, one only for the elevator and one for the rudder, it will work, but maybe a bit heavy.
For the wing, if you go that route, try and install them as close to the fuselage as you can to keep the weight centered.

what servos are usually used in these aircrafts? their weight/torque/price?

heh this goes off topic seriously.. :|

There is a digital craze, but you don't need digitals for sure.
If money is an issue, then look at the 700 series in the Hitec line.

I suppose it all depends on the type of flying you are going to do.
If your highly competitive in 3D stuff, then you might want to consider a bit more powerfull then the 700 series. If you are highly competitive in IMAC (pattern) then the 700 series will be just fine. Two each wing, one each elevator halves, and an805 on the rudder.
I mentioned here the hitecs, but you may want to look at some others also, JR, Futaba, Multiplex etc.

Just my opinion, but what is another couple hundred when you already have a 17 or 1800 dollar airplane. I use 605 and 615 on all of my smaller stuff, but if i was me and money was a little short i would hold off a little while until i got the extra money. Still you dont have to spen $100 a servo. Hitec make digitals in the $75 range. That would be a good choice. Also this plane is designed around the gt-80. sure zdz has more power. But they built the plane for the heavier gt-80. it balances much better. But if I had to do it again i would get a zdz and deal with the balance problem
