Thats a good idea Ray but I dont have enough left. Ive also cleaned with everything I can imagine.

Wonder what kinda flux yer thinkin Doug?

I see now...the solder tab is a press weld to the battery tab. They are (were) joined in the middle before I pulled it apart like a clod. So I dont even know what this tab comin out of the batt is, but it aint the factory solder tab. This is my dang new Tx battery too

I will be unable to attend the fly in this year. I will have to live vicariously through you guys.

Ken,

Very Nice Stang also. Hope to see them both in the air together.
Is the Kitchen finished? I don't remember seeing the finished project. My wifey is still deciding on color for the counter tops
Mac,

Haven't heard you chime in. Are you planning on attending the meet?

actually Shane, i think i did solder a lipo a long time ago and i used just ordinary solder, but there has been discussions about this in these hallowed pages and there's some kind of preference for type of solder, but i don't know what, perhaps somebody else could chime in on this.

looks like tomorrow is a possible flying day, forcast is for winds 10-15mph yet again, but most mornings it seems the wind doesn't pick up until after i finish flying. actually for my two tiny kyosho d/f jets, i need a decent 7-8mph wind to hand launch them, and so far this year, the f16 has flown once and the intruder hasn't been maidened yet. not sure what i'll take tomorrow, but i'm thinking pz typhoon 2, tucano, maybe the stuka and flash 3d epp profile and remotored art tech corsair.

Dad sadly you are correct, what you are seeing is not the tab from the batt but a backing sheath
it will not take or hold any solder. I have 3 cells now that I have had to remove due to that exact prob. if your brave you can try to peel the outer skin apart at the point the tab came out and see if there is any left just below the cover to solder to, I have done that but most of the time it doesn't hold either
I just remove said cell and set the batt aside till I loose another one and then I build a pack from the second one and so on
I have regained 2 3S packs that way, so instead of loosing the use of 4 packs I only lost 1 and 1/2 I made a 2 cell from one of them

Thanks for the input on my Mustang guys.

Shane, What kind are your mustangs? I can tell for sure that the one is definitely not a House of Balsa kit (the wing isn't close to scae on the house of balsa kits). The miss america one looks like it went through a raisin factory Wrinkly wing. With the solder for lipos. Yes some do take special solder, some can use regular solder. SInce you can't get any regular solder to adhere, you need to
