I flew my new Carden 35% Turboprop powered Extra today. No problems, plenty of power, Just a nice big smooth airplane.
Thanks to all that have helped me with this project.

It weighs about 33 1/2 pounds. I painted the fuse and it needed a bit of lead in the nose to get the cg right. I have since found that I can move the cg back about 1"so I will lose some of the lead. it flies great smooth and powerful.
Here in Australia we have to get each new turbine model inspected and test flown before we get our "Permit to Fly". It is a little stressfull doing your maiden flight on a new model with the inspector looking over your shoulder. However this maiden was uneventful and it just flew great. I even landed during the miaden flight and turned up the max RPM of the engine.
I am lookng foreward to lots of good flights. We are having a jet meeting here next weekend, so I will be able to show it off.

Regards

Wow, which engine did you use? What was the final weight of the plane? I've always liked the idea of a turboprop in a 3d aircraft, well any aircraft really.

G'day mrbigg,

From idle to about 1/3 throttle is slow (>2sec), from there up < 1.5sec. I have not tried to adjust the turbine parameters yet so I expect it will get better.

Still very managable and easy to fly. The thing will go around at 1/2 throttle and you normally approach with some power on so a go around is no problem. I don't know how it would go doing hovering, yet I have seen videos of Somenzini doing it with a Wren powered Yak.

You get used to the throttle lag quickly.

The startup is great to watch.

I love my Turboprop.

Regards

I guess you'd get used to the lag after awhile. I've always heard about it, but nobody ever put a time on it.
