Looks like you built it out of coro instead of the 1/4" fanfold foam the plans call for. I'm guessing that would make it too heavy...

I built one out of 4 mm coro because I couldn't find any fan fold foam. I put a brushless mega 16/25/4 on it with a 2s lipoly battery and a 11x4.7 prop (a motor calculator says I should get 2 lbs of thrust from that setup). I haven't tried to fly it yet though. I have been doing some reading about the espa3d and most people say that coro will be too heavy. I did read about one guy who tried making one out of coro and it worked, he didn't elaborate much. I don't know when I will get a chance to try to fly it but when I do I will tell you if it was successful.

My 4 mm coro espa3d weighs 1 lb 3 oz and I haven't installed the elevator and rudder servos yet. I should have more thrust from my motor than the plane weighs when it is done but I will have to see. I don't know when I will finish this plane since a new baby just joined the family but I will report the results of my maiden flight.
