Aerobird-3 => MODIFICATIONS FOR HIGHER PERFORMANCE !
I'd like to share my experience with AEROBIRD-3 Park Flyer heavy modification for higher performance.
I have been flying this bird for some time and came to conclusion that it can be transformed into 3D high performer.
The list of changes:
1) Alierons are added for the 4th channel;
2) It forced me to replace original RC board with Hitec 4 channel receiver (dual conversion one);
3) Replacing original board is also forced me to use V-Mixer from "Simprop" for V-Tail control;
4) 2 additional Futaba 3151 servos has been used to control new ailerons;
5) Original DC brashed motor has been replaced with 2 times lighter and 3 times more powerful brushless Axi-2212/26; (6A-10A - continues; 12A/60sec). Weight=60g with wires and connectors.
6) Original NiCd battery replaced by high performance LiPo battery: "Tunder Power" 910mAh/12v (14.5A-continues/22A-peack); Weight=68g with leads and connector.
7) Custom modified prop.
8) Carbon fiber wings reinforcement (1.5mm x 6mm rectangle rod).
9) Ready to fly weight: 504g compare to 460g with original setup.
10) Trust at full trottle: 550g compare to 220g with original setup.
11) Trust/Weight ratio: 550/504=1.09 compare to 220/460=0.48. New setup is over 2 times more effective!
The pictures are worth thousands words.
Please, see close up photos to get an idea about my new setup:

RE: Aerobird-3 => MODIFICATIONS FOR HIGHER PERFORMANCE !
Great job on your plane! I run a E-flight SIX in-runner in mine. I'm interested to know how well the ailerons work in flight. Are you able to vistory roll the plane well? I'm sure it won't be like a warbird but still would be interested on its flight performance.
