Mr. Karlsson - this is what USA folks call a "fuel tank"...he wants to know where in the fuselage it is located - up front next to the firewall, on the CG, or somewhere else.

Very best regards,
jimd

Yes, Thank you Mr. Duda.
Sorry for not being clear, Jaka where is your fuel tank located in the air frame. I seem to remember some posts a few months ago that we talked about fuel systems and I think you even put up pictures. Plus yours is still one of the best looking Vipers ever.

Hi Guys,
Well I have been racing Pylon here in new Zealand Approximately 10 years, give or take a couple. Any way I do not ever use EXPO on a pylon racer? The only Expo I use is on my
Right rudder, 100% Neg been Futaba set, & thats only for take off, & so when I'm flying & using the Elevater & I dont move the rudder unless I move it all the way across with the stick?
I'm sure Dubb Jett wrote a article on using Expo in Pylon Racers, ages ago. My movements on all my racers, are only 3 / 4mm & thats on Elevator & Ailerons. I land & take off with the same amount of stick, never had a problem. But I do have D/R set just in case I need more throw for some reason.

Hi!
Agree! I never use any expo either! Just trim the plane by moving the servos, receiver or batteries (and set the elevator to minimal trow) until you get the desired flight caratheristics.

Jaka your Viper looks different that what we get here in the U.S. Maybe it's something you've done, or not, but the wing saddle it totally different, what does the V-tail mount look like? If it is different that might explain why you don't have to shim the tail up.

Also, might need to PM me or start another thread, tell me about Motul, got a 3w 75 to start running.

MY CG is 3.0 - 3-1/8 inches behind leading edge of wing. The 700 MAH 4 cell NiCd battery is as far back as I can put it in the fuse cavity. It grooves like an arrow. As you can see, the fuel tank is as far forward as it can be with the TT Pro 40.

(When converted to a Q25 using an OS 25 FX, the battery must be relocated to the front of the fuse cavity to retain the correct balance.)

Take-offs and racing are in low rate, landings are in high rate (approx twice as much throw as low rate). Expo 15% all surfaces.

Eric, I think Jaka's is a regular Viper. I think he just added some balsa to the inside of the fuse sides at the wing saddle and potted the wing with microballoons and epoxy.

garys, thanks, it's looks pretty cool what ever he did.

Mr Duda, with CG at 3"+ I can't see how you can even fly it!! Mine at 3" was so bad that I had to abort flights, because I couldn't hardly control it. I do know this, with you and Jason, if anybody can get a handle on'em, it'll be ya'll.

It cracks me up how so many racers think they are "hot stuff" because they don't use expo. I'm still laughing! Be proud of something more important for goodness sake, like your involvement with your local schools, rescue missions, animal shelters, homeless shelters, or hospitals! You guys crack me up!

Or building outhouses!!??

Read everything, and then comment, I don't remember anyone claiming to be "Hot" by not using expo. I think it has gone more, "Don't use to much or it'll cause you problems, and adjust to your taste."

Oh and at the moment I am proud, no to be dead, or in a wheel chair, and still able to fly pylon. I've had a real bad couple of weeks!

Kurt,

I use very little expo, don't like it much.

5-10% max on Quickie, and 10-15% on Q40.

Doesn't have nothing to do with pride, and the only reason I use it, is to slow down the faster digital servos.

Hi!
My wing saddle is just built up with a piece of balsa on each side and with brown micro balloons and 24hour epoxy. It's better to have slightly larger surface for the wing to seat on than the original thin fuselage sides.
