Hi Guys, Im after some sound advice on a winter project. I would like to build a deep vee gas boat with a budget of about $800 (£400-£500)
Now is this possible ?

What hull would you recommend? I have to admit to really liking the bonzi style. Size wise I guess no bigger than 50" if within budget?
I know I need to do a bit more research myself, but just wanted to make sure I was in the right ballpark to begin with.

So if someone would be so kind enough to give me some advice and maybe a quick run down on engine sizes etc. then that would be fantastic.
Maybe even spend my money for me so to speak (in a virtual world of course )

Many thanks in advance.

Sam.

Really, I hoped to be able to buy bits over a period of time and build it up together slowly to be honest, rather than an RTR.

Hi there,

probably the best bet for you would be to look at second hand boats, they pop up now and then, as you say, get an engine, radio, hull etc together then build it up.

You could buy new in stages too.

I got a second hand Panther fitted out with no engine, with the motor it probably stands me 750 quid or so, plus the radio.

Hi Glen, yeah I think the way to go is buy a new hull then build it up with new or second hand/homemade parts over time (so the cost wont seem so much of a shock, lol)

Cool im looking on the prestwich site now and ebay

Hi seaquel, looks great! Do you have any more info please you could send to djsonofsam@hotmail.com or via PM

Thanks.
Sam.

I think you can get a boat that isn't RTR from warehouse hobbies. They are quality built boats. May not be the fastest but definately a good boat!

You might want to do a search on ebay for " easy vee", I just bought one, and it is a nice wooden v hull kit. I think you could easily hit your budget with that boat, and get good performance to boot. He has videos of the boat on his ad.
