yah. I grew out of this all... been biking for about 6 years.. started with downhill, went to dj, then urban, then trials. Sponsored by Cyclepath....bah, now as I look back, it seems like a chunk of waisted time in my life. Could have done something more with it.

yea yea mtb is still my no. 1 hobby. i do trails in southern california on a hardtail bike that are so narrow and steep at times that most people wouldnt even walk through there. i got pounced by a female moutain lion once while patching a punctured tube and also been bitten by a rattlesnake while sipping from the camelbak. mountain biking is what gives me liberation from the daily grind of work and family. it is so much fun to me to test my guts uphill on a fire road and then carve up the singletrack going down. you cant get that at a skate pak on a bmx. no disrespect, because thats a whole different type of thrill that i havent experienced.

what i need is the hard cash for a specialized demo or stab supreme. i am probably the biggest guy you will see on a mountain trail. 6-5, 275lbs. i used to play college level basketball thats the only reason i have tha bodyweight control and balance to do singletrack. the hardtail has done well for my learning stages. but now i want to try some major dh riding. and you know a hardtail diamondback with rockshox doesnt quite cut it. you can say that r/c is sipping the cash from my bike really fast. hahahaha

dont you just hate when parts break because of your weight?lol. I am approximately your size/weight and really needed strong setups.

i used to have that problem with skateboarding. only one guy in the crowd i skated with was bigger than me, and we'd usually end up sitting out due to broken equipment. eventually we discovered brands that wouldn't snap under our bulk, but it was an expensive learning experience.

i still have and ride my old bike from that era too, it's a mid 90s Bianchi. i've had thoughts of changing over the years, but i like a lot of the things about it, such as the "classic" look. (no suspension, road bike style frame.)

i rode my bike for the 1st time after winter a few days ago, the trail was absolutely pitted with mud , that slowed me down a lot

i will be hopefully getting back out next weekend, i'm trying to build my endurance and fitness up, by riding up hills in a high(ish) gear.

does any-one have any home-made sports drinks recipes?

I finally took the plunge and bought a bike too. It's an iron horse warrior 6.0. Great specs for the price i paid, and the rear shock is awesome. Only complaint i have is a soft fork and no lockout which kind of stinks because i do alot of xc, but need the suspension when i do all mountain and jumps.

It has a 1200 dollar msrp but I got it for 700 with free shipping. It's built very beefy, coming in at around 36lbs. If I had the money, I could easily get it down to 30-32 with wheels, cranks, fork, tires, but it's fine for what i do, and when I do xc the extra weight just means extra exercise

awesome. im thinking about getting a new stem for my bike, the one i have is really short and makes the front end feel heavy, and if i get a longer one it will give me more space to move around. the chain on my bike really needs to be adjusted too, it hops between gears alot

A shorter stem keeps your weight back, thus making it easier to pull up on the bars and easier to manual. A longer stem will bring your weight forward, making it harder to manual and pull the front end up. Are you sure the chain needs adjusting? Have you adjusted the endpoints on the deralliure, the cable, and aligned it? I got mine set up well and it's not the most expensive drive setup, but it rarely skips or ghostshifts now. Check for a stiff link on the chain. Those will screw everything up.
