Hi, my buddy had one back in 1999, it flew well. He used a Quadra 75. I think the weight was around 35 pounds. Landed like a **** cat.

One day in level flight the left wing folded up and departed, it failed right at the fuselage side, don't know why, maybe old wood or previous damage, something to look at.
cheers - ken www.sportrc.com

I don't think he had flaps, but it landed fine. the plane flew well, there was maybe 16 flights on hit when the wing let go.
I found a photo of it. the failure was not at the joint but at the side of the fuselage - cheers - ken

OZYRAY,

Is that a built up kit or a composite kit? I am going to start building a 1/4 scale Don Smith Plans F4U-1D Corsair this winter. It has a 10 foot wingspan and a 98" fuselage. I am putting a 3W 200cc 20hp gas engine on mine. I figure it will weigh well over 50 lbs. It will have all the bells and whistles on it and I will make all the modifications I nee to make it look just like the plane I'm patterning it off of. Here's what it will look like. Good luck with your Giant scale Royal Corsair.

OZYRAY,

I don't know why anyone would build a Warbird especially the Corsair without flaps. On the Corsair they are beautiful. I am having Darrell at Seirra Products custom make the retracts for mine. He is also going to make a system for an air operated sliding canopy. Hope you had good dreams and have fun flying.

Hi OZYRAY,

I take it your the same guy who has been emailing me about the Royal Corsair after the thread on the LMA website? Would be good to see you post some photos and to keep us up to date on the build? Flew my 98" P47 yesterday, first flight on it, that has a KING 100CC in it, played up big time!! caused a dead stick landing, 40lb glider! not to much damage though, hope yours runs better!! pulling it out and poping in a 3W80 twin instead.

alanc, ive modified my wing joiner to an internal joiner, like the one used in the yellow aircraft kits, all hidden rather than the plates and screws idea! hope it works or mine will fold at the wing join!!

Keep up the good work,

Di n Dave....
