Paul,

So far, which method do you prefer? The landing gear straps or the ply supports?

Thanks.

Not sure yet... Jurry is still out.... If I had to pick today... I like the ply supports, but build a little closer to the fuse.. The last set I did, the rods ran about 3/16" from the fuse.. I'd like to do it again, but with only 1/16". Would look cleaner.

Paul,

Have you tried using a ply spacer between the landing gear strap and the fus side?

no.... I used a tube inside of the lg strap... worked okay... the 2x56 rods I used were just a little tight in the tubes....

Run short sections of Sullivan Golden Rod Jackets (red). About 3" long. Then cut 1/8" lg. sections of the golden rod and slide them on your 2-56 control rod so that they run inside the jacket. I prefer to run the entire 2-56 rod thru the red jacket, then put an 1/8" pc. of yellow golden rod about every 2 inches. Then support the red jacket every 2 - 3 inches when pull-pull is out of the question, or a Dave Brown rod set-up won't work. I would have to say that this method is my third choice, though sometimes the set-up will not allow for my 1st & 2nd choices Thats life! Hope that this helps with another alternative.
Kevin

Try putting the elev/rud. servos in the tail on the next one....
Moving the motor all the way foreward and putting the throttle servo right behind the motor (use motor rails as servo rails) was enough to balance mine w/o adding any extra weight. Then the linkages are only about 3" long, and much tighter.

Just got back from flying the Fat Free Taco!!! Awesome!!! I can't believe how nimble this thing is... It was waaaaay to windy to do a maiden... but I couldn't wait... Climbing flat spins, both upright and inverted... Loops on it's tail.... Knife edge with very little coupling... Seems to harrier and hover good... but it was hard to tell with the wind... Did some knife edge hovering 'cause the wind was soo strong... Very cool...

I like this design better that the sheeted version... You can frame up this plane in 3 - 4 hours!!! I'm going to kit it.... Mark Shope is gonna do the cutting.

Fully CNC machined kit, all you need is some 3/16 sq, 1/4 sq 1/4 x 3/8 and 1/16 sheeting. Kit includes 1/4 fiberglass rod, carbon fiber for spars and pre bent landing gear with blocks.

All the main pieces are machined for you... all you have to do is some sq. cuts.. hardly any fitting.... Mark has really got it going on with engineering the kit for a strong easy building plane.

I'm gonna sell 'em for $43.
