I was having a blast until I had a brain fart... Nobody ever told me that a zero clearance knife edge was a bad thing. Watching a 3ft wingspan plane do cart-wheels is a sight to see. Watching balsa go everywhere like it exploded will surely get your attention.

Haha...

Damaged wing, broke motor mount, broke rudder, torn off wing fillet, stripped servo, broke elevator, ripped off fuel tank, ripped of tailwheel, broke prop.

With all that happening in the split of a second, the fiberglass rod is still in one piece. This design is ultra strong. I think it was time to move on anyway. I did have fun with it. It can be fixed, but do I want to is the question that I must answer.

Paul, I may look into one of your e-tacos just for the heck of it.

So sorry to see you dumped your Taco! I felt brotherhood with you and your four stroker. Remember I had a Yellow Taco with an OS 40FS? I sold it a year ago. Wish I still had it.

I see you are interested in the E-Taco. I may be making one from scratch soon. I am thinking about trying it with blue foam and light clear Ultracoat. No landing gear probably to save some weight. Right now, I have some stuf in line on the building board. Once I start, I will post some photos.

Dave

Thanks Dave, the photo of mine doesn't look that bad, but monokote is really the only thing holding it together. The motor mount top snapped so the motor is only being held from the bottom mount part.

I am very interested in more electric planes now and I think the E-Taco may be a good choice being I know how the plane handles and all.

Please do keep me posted of your design/setup. Please PM me with details, comments, photos if you don't mind when you start and through the construction. I think that would be a great plane also.

Thanks

It's been a while, but I have reposted my old Fat Free Taco videos for viewing again for anyone new or old looking at this plane.

It is simply a great flying plane as many already know.

Click HERE and scroll to the bottom of the page to view the two videos.

Enjoy,
DTB

First off...let me say that you were doing some nice flying! That Saito sounded nice. You know...I should have used the same motor. My OS was way too fussy. Once I thought I had it dialed in....something else would go out. I really started hating that motor after a while and that is the main reason I sold it.

Now....getting back to the E-Taco. I want to do a foam version. I may start on it soon. I have a lot of extra brushless stuff laying around now. Thought I would never say that!!! The reason I have not startde it yet....I got one of those Spektrum radios and I have been converting my fleet over to that. NOW....I have to make another 3-D plane because I just smacked up my favorite foamie two weeks ago.

I probably will start laying it out this week. I will take photos and post them in a new thread. I will post a new link soon.

Dave

By the way.....how is Danville VA?

I need to get mine out again...fun little plane. (I've been flying my big gassers lately.)

The Saito really makes this little guy shine.
