I've been looking at the RealFlight G3.5 . I am running a Pentium 3.0, 512 MB Ram, Radeon 9000 video card. Is this good enough to run the sim better than average?

You should be fine with that computer. A mistake Real Flight has made is listing their minimum system requirements too low. Anyone with the minumum listed system will have very poor performance. They should increase the minimum recomendations, then they would not have as bad a reputation for needed a powerful computer. They create that image themselves by telling people who can barely run it that it will be fine.

Your system is probably very close to the actual minimum requirements for G3.5 to have an enjoyable experience. They say something like "Pentium 1ghz, 256 ram, 64 ram video" but that will run it really badly. If you double their "minumum" requirements, that is more realistic. So I would personally say that the actual minimum requirments (to run the game WELL) would be about...

Pentium 2ghz
512 MB RAM
128 MB Video RAM

... or for "smokin' 60FPS or better performance" that a hardcore gamer would desire...

Pentium Core Duo or better
1 GB RAM
256 MB Video RAM

... Just my 2cents for you:-)

Oh, just to finish that post off...

I recently got G3.5 and it runs at about 80FPS on my computer. So I can say from first hand experience that overkill for g3.5 is...

Pentium Core Duo 2.46ghz per core
2 GB RAM
NVidia 8800GTS 320 MB RAM

... if your system is anything approaching this then you will run G3.5 even more smoothly than film or television is displayed.
