I'd like to start a thread that would maybe speed up any newbies to the HBK2's. Brushless suggestions, Belt mods, DIfferent Canopies and custom ideas that will make these that much more enjoyable of a bird. I learned an unbelievable amount from many on the pilot's on these threads about the HBK2. maybe some quick Photo's, Names and short explanations of your modifications would make for a cool thred for everyone to show off a photo of there coolest HBK2 Heli.

Mine has a TREX 450 canopy thats trimmed back and fits like a glove while adding more forward area for a simple battery tray made of thin galvanized steel, two small screws and a strip of velcro allows a multitude of battery pack sizes and front to back location to put the CG right where you want it. I also have TREX 450 skids which the mounting holes are the same as the stock holes they mount right on with no modification. I have the esky brushless 3100kv motor with a 10 tooth pinion and run the stock 1000mah lipo packs flight times exceed 10 minutes and everything runs nice and cool. Another modification I made is real simple but looks great I think. The green tailfeathers. Just go to your local sign shop and get some Professional grade vinyl in your favorite color. Just remove the tailfeathers with the two little screws lay them down flat in a cutting board after cleaning them with alchohol peel and cover them then trim along the edges flip do the other side and your done. This is the same vinyl used for vehicle lettering. Don't worry either the edges won't lift of look bad this stuff stays where you put it. The last mod is the belt I used EZVEEDUBS bearing mod which works great no more belts coming off. You can get the bearing from Mike at Boca Bearing In Boca Raton, Fl. The part number for one of the bearings MR52-ZZ/W2 and the other is MF682-ZZ you will need two of each. I hope what I've learned here on the threads and some of my own experimenting helps dail you in and allows you to enjoy This little bird as much as I have. Happy Flying and lets see some Photo's...

Here's mine. Not a WHOLE lot in mods yet, but I've only had her 2 weeks. I have the Danlion 3500kv brushless motor and 33 Amp ESC, had Betapilot do his belt mod to it which is very similar to what Dillweed did to his. I just made the battery tray out front today to make her balance correctly. It turned out nice, just used two carbon fiber rails, a piece of 1/32 ply painted black, and a piece of velcro. I did a quick paint job on the canopy and tail feathers to make her "my own" instead of the dull white canopy with a few stickers.

Yeah, Use the bearing part numbers I listed in the top of the thread you will need two of each. One is a flanged bearing which you use on the bottom and the other is aregular bearing with no flange you will stack on top of the other then use the little aluminum stock flange washer that comes with the heli on top of that. So when your done you will have the belt riding in the center of two bearings the flange on the bottom bearing makes sure the belt doesn't come off the bottom and the factory aluminum flange washer on the top takes care of things up there. Look close at the second picture at the top of the thread you can see what was done. Oh yeah, you use a dubro 2mm X 10 fine thread bolt for the center bolt it's perfect length and goes fully through thr frame and holds real well. I would look into what golfingguy has for a belt mod on his as well.

Here is mine

The upgrade was E-Flite Park 370 4100KV inrunner with a 8T pinion gear.
E-Flite ESC 20 amp
3 Hitec HS55s for the swash plate and a Hitec HS50s for the tail rotor.
E-Flite G90 HH Gyro
Revolution short RX antenna
I made a new stab design for looks.
customized my rotor blades and tail rotor
On the yellow canopy I install an air scoop under the nose for better cooling and also cut out a V shape oppening at the top rear of canopy do direct airflow to the motor.
Put rubber heat shrink black on landing skid legs.
On the white canopy I also have the V cut out at the top and made a new air intake under the nose but more fwd and no scoop.
Finally I'm using my JR9303 radio and receiver, and as you can see I have slip a nice yellow heat shrink over the bundle of wires to the RX

So thats my Heli

golfingguy27,

I like that battery tray you've got there. Could you provide any additional details on where or how you acquired it?
