Hey i have the QQ Yak 86" Kit with the supplied motor and canister/header combo. I cut off the suggested 8cm off the header to make it fit and it does not fit? Did i get the wrong header supplied or something? To make it fit i would need to cut off another 6-8cm and this would eliminate the bump on the end of the header....

HELP

Hi RCFREAK,

I juts installed mine and it fits perfect with 8 mm that I removed from the header pipe. The exit pipe on the cannister is close to but not touching the firewall. This is with the DA 50 with 1.25" Standoffs and the MTW 75 front discharge Canister. With the DA 50 and the canister/header combo the assembled set up with the 8 mm removed should fit perfect unless for some reason your header pipe is longer.

If you check out Plasticman's post titled 86" Progress Reports at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5650614/tm.htm this is how mine also looks like.

Hi RCFREAK,

Can you take a couple of photos of the header and motor (left side of the airplane) also so the folks on the forum can see the complete set up? Do you have the 1.25" stand offs mounted between the motor and the firewall?

Anyway if you can post some more photos with different views the forum may be better able to assist you.

For your info im using the supplied standoffs that came from QQ with the plane. 1 1/4 DA standoffs. So i dont see why im having this problem. Either QQ provided me with the wrong header or canister... Or there has been a manufacturing error?

To check the whole thing out, put the cowl on and see how far the spinner will be in front, you should have a gap of at least 0.75" from the most outer point of the cowl too the spinner, once you have established this just cut it to fit.

Can any one help, how about someone from QQ?

Obviously not, just gave them a call and they offloaded the blame to Desert Aircraft.
What am i to do guys, what is DA going to do for me, QQ sold me the canister and motor combo, this combo was for the QQ yak 86". Now obviously they have suppplied me the wrong gear, how am i meant to claim a new header off DA? Dont this have to go through QQ?

You should measure the motor box as there is someone here, in France, who received a qq 86" with motor box too long (more than 2cm)... Perhaps your yak motor box is too short !!

Hi RCFREAK,

Thanks for the photos showing the complete set up. It almost looks like the section of header after the flex wrap is too long for some reason. Why don't you drop an email to Rezagh who is Quique's support forum specialist and ask him about just cutting the header past the knuckle and let him know what you have come up against?

Hi Guys,

Sorry I missed this thread. I am just swamped with the Python threads and manual.

How long of the header have you cut so far and how much more you need to cut to fit approximately. I will check into this once I get your numbers once more.

Sorry for the problem. We will take care of it if you have bought it from us. You should not have to go to DA, we will deal with DA. I do not believe DA is at any fault, they may have simply given us a wrong header if that turns out to be case.

Please email or post the details.

CRC Mark,

Thank you for your email.

Reza

I have currently cut off the required 8cm. It would take another 20mm approx to make this header fit. That means the bump on the end would have to be cut off. This dont sound right?

Thanks for replying rezagh
