Hey, well I must resurect this thread from the dead because I have been flying my Vulcan and my Trex, I have to say that the TRex is a bit more stable. To be fair I only have an Align Gyro on my Vulcan but I have a GY401 on my TRex so that makes a big difference. I have wrecked both helis and the Trex is getting a bent frame and I have trashed a set of trainig gear/ landing gear. I will post some pictures of my Vulcan here in a few.

Hey Guys,

I can't decide between the Pigeon 450 ($400) or the Blade 400 ($420). I have been flying the CX2 now for several months and have been practicing on a sim I recently Purchased (PhoenixRC). The Pigeon looks sweet. Which do you folx recommend? Thanks for the help....

Do you have a link to this "Pigeon 450"? If it is at hobby-estore.com for $369.00 RTF I have a few suggestions for you.

Actually this model is available at a hobby shop here in Phoenix for $399.00 RTF. Almost all of it is aluminum. However, I am bidding on a trex 450 se RTF on e-bay right now. I really like the Pigeon, I just can't find ANY information on it online.

Ok, I have a TRex 450 SE and a Pigeon (aka Vulcan, but mine was just the heli and no electronics, really it had no name so I will call it the "Pigeon" for you.) so far here is my list of experiences.
1. Pigeon Feathering shaft bent really fast. (Had to replace with Align Feathering Shaft, much stronger)
2. Pigeon needs to be completely dissasebled and reassembled using locktight, otherwise you will loos all of your screws and your heli will fall out of the sky.
3. I have Hitec HS65 carbide gear servos on my pigeon and Trex and so far I have had to fix two servos on the Pigeon and none on the TRex, I fly my TRex a lot more too!
4. I plan on replacing all my swashplate links with Align links because the align ones are a better fit on the ball joint.
5. The link for the rear rotor pitch control is made of plastic and just fell off the ball link and wont snap back on because the eye is too big. Need to replace now.
6. The frame on the Pigeon is very strong, I have really bent my aluminum TRex frame but the Pigeon look perfect.
7. Align HH gyro is on the pigeon, would definatly recomend a good gyro/digital servo setup. I have a GY401 and a digtal servo on my TRex and it is a joy to fly versus the cheap Align gyro.
8. The rotor Blade tracking on my Pigeon was way off.
I like the Pigeon but it has been a really good learning experience building it since it was my first Heli build, my TRex was a used heli and I just charged the Lipo and started flying.
I have a spektrum DX7 and I am glad that I spent the extra money instead of buying the six channel. Good luck and I will try and post some pics when I get up and running again.

I haven't seen the Vulcan 450 or the Pigeon online for a while. I bought mine from Xheli. They don't seem to have any more of them. Reign of the Vulcan/Pigeon 450 seems to have been short-lived. Hope I never bend the frame, I'll have to build it into another heli with a different frame. I'm glad there is high-interchangeability with the Trex 450 and other clones like HeliDirect's HD450.

I just ordered FMADirect's Flight Stabilization System FS8 http://www.fmadirect.com/products.htm?cat=29&nid=7 Will report on it when I get it running.

I just really crashed 5 minutes ago, BAM! right into the concrete, bent boom and exploded tail hub. HE HE HE. I swap pretty much everything and anything between my TRex and my Vulcan/Pigeon.

Hi there, nice thread guys!. I know its a bit late, but i found a couple of sites you might be interested in: www.hobbyjapan2000.com have the pigeon RTF at $309(U.S.) and www.cnchelicopter.com have all sorts of cnc aluminium upgrade parts and stuff for t-rex's and the like, as well as Carbon fibre frame kits. Hopefully these stores can help you out with parts and kits.

Cheers,

I also found where you could buy a frame, if you bend your original vulcan, pigeon etc http://www.hobby-estore.com/pigeon-450m1-heli-parts.html. I know the vulcan frame is different compared to the pigeon, but it might work

Cheers,

Forged.

Well congrats on the new heli! I take it that you are not new to the heli hobby. Well the only radio I have and will ever own is a Spektrum DX7, go with the DX7 over the DX6i... you will be glad you did. Any pics of your heli?
