Hello all,

The 2nd speed of my Ultra 1/10 nitro stopped working. I allready bought another clutch bell, but, since I live in Brazil, I will only receive it in 2 weeks.
So, I would like to know if there is a way of repairing the clutch bell, until i receive the new one.

Thanks a lot!

what do you mean your second speeds not working?? If its not shifting to second gear thats not the gears. And you should go ahead and replace the clutchbell anyways. Since its a street car you should get a steel clutchbell with more teethe for top speed. I have no idea whats on the stock ultra i just know you should replace it anyways. and yea theres no way to repair a clutchbell i wouldnt think

Hello!

Thank you for the answer! It's not shifting to the 2nd gear. The gears are OK. It's something on the clutch bell. The "spring", perhaps? I noticed there's a small ball, a spring and an adjustment screw. I think some dirt got into the mechanism (it's open downside), but I can't fix it. i allready bought another clutch bell, but it's arriving in 15 days...

Thanks a lot!

Your talking clutch bell as in:
http://www.redcatracing.com/itemdetail_part.asp?partno=02023S

cuz that doesnt have a spring, if your talking about the clutch itself, that goes onto the flywheel, than if the spring is still attached and still tight holding it all on, it should all be good still.. what you need to do is adjust the hex screw on the 2nd speed spur gear in the tranny part, if you adjust it, itll make it catch than make it go into the 2nd gear, your clutch bell should be fine.

Hello,

exceed rc refers to the clutch on the motor as "engine gear", and that on the gear box as "clutch bell". i tried to adjust the hexscrew in and out, but it didn't work. I think some dirt has got in it. I'll try to disassemble it, lubricate it and try again.

Thanks!

oh, well than there prolly is a way to fix it, plus pretty much all redcat parts will work on exceed's their the same company, different name, and clermont ships alot fast than these other manufactur sites do.. but, id take it off and just clean it off and clean it out, than put the stuff back on, and try adjusting it.

Just for future reference, the names are wrong. There in Chinglish,
Clutch Bell = Clutch gear

The one labeled clutch bell = 2 speed clutch

I would deffinatly try cleaning it out, if you can't get it to work or the spring or something is missing then you can find it here:

Hello,

thanks for the help! i got it working after several re(tries). I used a stronger spring which I got in a cigarette lightener. i think the old one lost its strenght. The major problem was to cut the right lenght, since the spring I got was too long.

well, thanks again!

You need a new one of these.

Your clutch spring is broken. The pic is of Aluminum shoes, but the actual shoes are White Teflon.
