Our club president gave us a bunch of scat cats. I need an engine we don't plan on serious raceing just some friendly chaseing each other around. I have a os 40LA what will this engine do for me? If I have to buy an engine what are some good options? I was looking at a towerhobbies .46 or the thunder tiger .46 pro. I like the thunder tiger because of the front needel valve but know nothing on thunder tiger engines.

The TT40 Pro is the engine most used for AMA 424 class of Q500 (quickie) racing. Some areas of the country use OS 46s and maybe a couple of others. The scat cat fits the AMA 424 category. Your 40LA will fly the plane fine but unless every body else is using the same engine you are going to get beat bad and often. The TT40 is a fine engine at a good price. The plane will fly great on anything from a good 25 up to the 50s, 52s, 53s, 54s and 55s in 40 size cases. Get together with the other guys and pick an engine most have or are willing to buy and is readily available where you are, spares included.

No big decision, get the Thunder Tiger 46 . When you think that you need more speed and your plane is still in one piece get a Jett or Performance Specialities muffler and go even faster.

Thanks for the info. Ordered the TT .46. I like the front needle valve. Plus it seems to be the most widley used engine. Thanks for putting my mind at ease
