Hey guys I am kind of new to this whole thing. I am currently stationed in Iraq right now. So obviously my ability to go to the local hobby store is limited. I need a Tame setup for my Trex. I have 3 Hitech 65mg's a fut 9650, 401 gyro, castle Creations 35a esc, and an Align xl motor and a dx7 radio and the Phoenix sim (Which I have been using for about 3 Months). I have watched all the Finless bob videos but there is a few things I am still confused on. First of all my head speed is off the charts, according to my rpm gadge about 3400 rpm so I would like to slow that down. Every time I try to fly it goes Hi and won't come down with out a fight. My pitch is set at 10 deg. both sides. My Swash mix is 65 for all three settings and I think if I bring those down I might be able to tame the cyclic but I don't know how far is ok. So any help about making this a tame beast would be much appreciated. New parts take way to long to get over here. Trust me I have ordered plenty O one other thing, A good start point for the ESC would be great. I burnt up my stock one. Thanks for your time.

hi - some things to try

- less teeth on motor pinion - will slow down head speed
- do you have flybar weights? - heavier ones will tame cyclic

quote:

'Every time I try to fly it goes Hi and won't come down with out a fight.'

- do you have 0 pitch at mid stick?

I am using the smallest pinion the kit came with, I think it is a 12 tooth, I believe, so you think maybe smaller huh ok I will try. And yep I have the fly bar weights they are all the way out to the paddles.

according to this calculator

http://www.bladebusters.com/calculator.html

If you have a dx7, lower the throttle curve. The finless vids have you setup a linear curve, from 0 to 100%. Was your measurement of 3400 on the bench at full throttle?. If so, turn down the 5th (highest) throttle curve point till the desired head speed is reached. Then adjust the others (no need to adjust 0 ), so that the line is as close to linear as possible. For instance if 80% is the magic head speed number, then take 80, divide by 5. Each point is the multiple. 80/5 = 16. Point 1 = 16, point2 = 32, point3=48, point4 = 72 and point 5 = 80.

YOu could also add pitch lower in the curve so that the head spead is not as high, and the pitch change would not be as sensitive. If you change pitch 1degree at 3000 rpm, it will have a bigger effect (more lift) than a 1degree change at 2500 rpm, giving a tamer throttle/pitch curve.

where are the linkages on the servos? moving them in would make the bird less sensitive, without having to mess with swash percentages. (but you should re-trim after doing so)

Good luck

I have almost the same setup except my cc is the 45.

I have set this helo up to help train others so here is what I do.

Stay with the 12 tooth, set the pitch and throttle curves just like the specs say for general flight except raise the low end (point 2) of the throttle curve to 45% (helps to keep it from dropping so fast) Standard flybar weights all the way out. Add 25% exp to aileron and elevator and 35% on rudder. Stay at 9 to 10 degree's of pitch. As you get more comfortable back off on the exp in 5% increments.

I live on an Island in Southeast Alaska. No LHS. Almost same sit as u.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
