Hi All,

This should be a relatively simple proccess, however, after replacing the swash servos with Spectrum (from my DX6), I set things up, all looks good, but the tracking goes from "looking good" to "ugh oh" to "holy sh** it's shaking itself apart". Since this is a cheapy (sorry guys) there is only 1 adjustable link to each blade from the base of the swash. No matter what I do, the results are about the same. I have taken the links off, adjusted them to a starting length from the manual, tried a different set of blades, the main shaft and feathering shafts are straight as an arrow...I'm out of answers for things to try. I'm seriously ready to toss this "toy" in the garbage and buy another Trex (I'm sorta holding out for awhile to see if they produce a 500. Dave

Hi Scott,

Absolutely "no offense" to anyone who has a KBK2 or any other ESky, or Walkera, but once you build and fly a "better" chopper, you know what I mean. Dave

Dave, did you get the swash all leveled? You have to get the swash set up first perfectly and then move up the head untill you finally get to the blade tracking.
Try watching the HDX300 head videos by Finless found here: HDX300 build videos
Watch the HDX300 servo install video and then watch the head setup video. Its obviously not the same heli, but the general idea is the same. PM me if you need some help with that.

No offence taken at all, I knew what you meant, I was just being funny (or trying to).

The HBK2 is intimidating to me, I just got mine a few days ago and have only set it up but haven't flown it, all the knobs and switches are a bit of a mystery to me at this point. I did find tracking the blades were a trial and error but they did eventually track for me

I had to replace one of my servos the other day and have had tracking problems since then as well. When you guys say you have to get the swash set right first I'm assuming you mean just get it as close to square to the main shaft as possible? Kind of tricky without being able to set the subtrim (zero) of the servos. Mine seems to vary for some reason.. I can get the tracking perfect holding it in my hand and then hover it and the tracking can be off almost a half inch. I'm starting to get a feel for flying it but need to get the tracking fixed before it shakes itself to death! Suggestions??

Tracking should not be that hard to set. Did you weigh the blades? If the blades are substantially different in weight, dynamic tracking could change with different speeds. After getting the swashplate square when the servo's are centered, get the blades the same weight by adding weight to the lighter blade, right on the center of gravity of the blade. Then track the blades by making adjustments to the arm that changes pitch on the blade holder. I have never had a problem doing it unless the blades were substantially different in weight...

I thought about that earlier today but the batteries in my digital gram scale were dead. I'll have to get some tomorrow and check that. Thanks

OK, here is a bit more data for you to ponder on. I'm at my wits end on this one. When I spool up to say center stick things are still OK, but when I start with some pitch the tracking gets so bad...I mean If I kept going the blades would open up MORE than 1/2" and she starts a wobblin and a shaken and a "better back off", know what I mean? Dave, have you weighed and balanced the blades. I weigh them to see if they are too different in weight. If they are close in weight ( on my gram scale) then I balance them and then finally track them on the heli. ... I also had one blade that had the slightest warp near the root of the blade that took me a while to find. No way in haides could I track that set of blades. I pulled out another set and they balanced and tracked great. Do you have a second set of blades to try?

Yes, blades were fairly close out of the package, weighed them, balanced them. Here's some more. Took the main blades off and spun her up. As I got past 1/2 stick on the throtle, I could see the flybar paddles actually change their flight path, something has to be bent. I'm ready to try a new flybar and swash plate.

It could be the flybar. It could be the main mast. ( main shaft ) .. Keep it up. You are doing good sleuthing. You will get to the bottom of it..

Found it! The flybar center that is held in place by a bushing on each side of the head...well 1 screw was gone and that bushing had backed out, so the dern flybar was woblin around in the head. So I fixed that, made the pitch control rods the same length and walla! Tracking blades. Dave

I was about to say if you cant get the King2 flying, you shouldnt be looking to a T-rex. The king 2 is probably my favorite heli now I have three of them. I also have over twenty helicopters.

I'm flying 2 batteries a day in the TRex 450 now. I wanted a "junker" to get bold with. The HBK2 is way cheaper to fix than the 450. No offense to any of you HBK2 owners, but if you own a well engineered heli, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't know what I'm talking about, when your HBK2 wears out or gets crashed, get a TRex or equivelant and you'll never go back to the $180 RTF's from Hong Kong with radio. Dave
