Status: offline 		I have a question. The engine has to be spun over pretty rapidly to produce the spark needed to start. I have been starting it by using my 3/8 electric drill. Would I be able to hand flip start the engine if I converted it to gas/glow? Don't want to go to EI. No funds at the moment.

Next question. The usual agreed upon mixture is 2 parts premium and 1 part glow fuel. I already have several gallons of 10/20 glow fuel. Will this fuel work in the above mentioned mixture? And do I still need to add some 2 stroke oil to the mix or does the oil in the glow fuel suffice?

Will it work well? It depends on you defination of well?

No you will not need to add oil, you already have twice to much.

I have used 10/18 and it ran and idled in a 32cc Mac.
But not near as good as well 10/10 does.

I've told people 10/18 is okay to try to see if there is hope but any more oil than 10%
and your taking away alcohol that is needed to make the glow plug work.

Actually 10% oil is a little to much, I believe 8% is what is required for a 2 stroke ball bearing engine.

Status: offline 		So, the glow fuel is just to keep the glow plug hot. Is there a readily availabe substitute for glow fuel on the market that we could add to gas that would keep the glow plug hot. If so, then we could just use normal 2 stroke oil like before. Asking because I really dont know for sure what is in glow fuel and what part of it is needed for the glow plug.

Status: offline 		You could buy alcohol from speed shop. Mix 1 gallon of alcohol with 2 gallons of gas. Also from speed shop you will need Nitro. You will need 15/100 or 15% of a gallon of Nitro. Then buy some Klotz oil and mix that in at 32/1 ratio. Should be close for some good running! Good Luck Capt,n

Status: offline 		Getting back to a prop. You might want to try a Master Airscrew 18x10 wood schimitar for your SE5. I have a Ryobi that I converted but with a CH ignition and it spins the 18x10 at around 7500. I am also using a Walbro wt644 big bore carb and Wacker muffler.

Status: offline 		How long should the engine be run to break in the new ring? Considering that the cylinder, piston, and crank are well used. Not original cylinder and piston though. These were swapped from another engine. All used.

I ran a full 10 once tank of fuel through it today. It peaked out at 7200+ RPM on a MAS Classic 18x8. Should fly the SE well at that rpm I think. Do yall think it will get better still over time?

Status: offline 		I have re-used piston rings with pretty good success. Make sure the ring grooves in piston are carbon free. You can use a broken piston ring "ground to a square edge to do that. Take cylinder and break the "Glase" with sand-paper..or whatever. I also Polish the flat side of the piston rings on a real flat surface using fine high grade sand-paper. I use a circular motion. Works for me!! Capt,n

Status: offline 		I meant to say that the piston ring is new. I put a new Bowman piston ring on it. The piston and head are used from two different engines. What I meant to ask is how much more break in is required for the new piston ring?
