Erik, Rick, and the rest of the gang,

Thanks for the great time! The site is perfect but the time with friends is even better. Hanging out in Hamburg is the new gig.

U think im "da man" for just anybody? You had me at hello. ha ha ha j/k Thanks Erik but in all seriousness it is truly my pleasure. You guys took me in like ive been around for years and showed me the true camaraderie of this hobby. People like Rick, Dave, Erik, Lee and Jim make this hobby what it is today. Did you see the look on the faces of the kids and adults alike? Theyve never seen anything like that before! Yous got a great thing going and from what i can tell, this event put a whole new spin on the term "jet rally". Yous really set a standard above the bar (no not that bar ) and makes for bigger and better things next year. The sky's the limit. As for Ed- If that happened to me, id want someone to reciprocate for me so hey- dont mention it. You cant find a better group of guys here everybody, you go other places and you see the egomaniacs, the showoffs, the "im better than you" people. Not here. Were all equal here and those of you that have never been here, GET HERE! Check us out. You wont be disappointed.

Cory

I have to share this with you guys....

Someone who had attended the rally as a spectator came into the Hobbytown where I work, and wanted to know where we kept the Jet models. He had seen you guys flying them and really wanted one now. I asked him if he flies R/C now. Of course, the answer was "No...I always thought it was too expensive!" I told him we don't stock turbine-powered planes...or turbines...and for that matter, we only ever have one JR 8611A in stock at any given time, much less a decent radio or any of the other peripherals you'd want on a plane of that caliber. But if he wanted to special order something, it might be arranged (I'm saying this knowing there's not a chance in hell, but laughing on the inside at what's about to transpire).

His eyes light up...."Oooo! So you CAN get me one?"

I asked him, "Sir, what sort of budget did you have in mind?"

He says (with a straight face), "I dunno...how much should i be looking at?"

"Well," I said, "let's start with the engine. You'll need one of those. Depending on the thrust you need for the model you get, you can expect to spend somewhere around $1800-$2500 for that......"

"Whoa! Wait a second! Did you just say 'two thousand five hundred dollars.....for one engine?!?!"

"Sure did! Now servos...you'll need some of those too....Let's see...we sell JR 8611A's for around $120. You'll need at least 7 or 8 of those....and a radio....and a voltage regulator....oh, and let's not forget the plane...."

"I don't think my wife would approve....I was thinking they cost around $200."

"In your dreams sir (and mine too)."

I tried to interest him in a nice little nitro trainer, but if it wasn't a jet, he wasn't going for it.

Anyway, I think he left the store with a whole new appreciation of the level of dedication you jet guys have to the hobby.

PS - No customers were harmed in the conversation above. Had a customer been harmed, you'd be informed where to tune in your area for emergency broadcast information. This has been a public service of the LHS network. We now return you to your regularly scheduled posts.

I worked the "gate" towards the end on Saturday, when several spectators were starting to file out. I asked many of them what they thought of it, and they were all very impressed and had a great time! Some said they were coming back for Sunday too! Many asked "How often do you guys do this?", and "When is the next airshow?".

Thanks to all the event organizers for a well planned and organized event, and thanks to all of you turbine pilots that put on one hell of an air show, especially on that extremely windy Saturday!

Thanks to Eric, Rick and everyone else involved for doing all the hard work to put together a wonderful event. I had a great time and look forward to flying with you guys more often. It was definitely one of the best events up here in the NE and the hospitality was definitely second to none.

Thanks again for taking sure good care of all the pilots.

Alan was defintely worn out with all the "out-pouring of love" devoted to him this weekend as well.

Best Regards,

Adil

Thanks for coming to the event Adil,

And congrats on your Best Scale Jet award for your outstanding F-4 Phantom. Hope the grass worked out well for the ol' girl.

FYI..... Rumor has it that Erik is working on a black project down in the Hangar. I heard that he has captured some local foul, and that he has already strapped a P-120 to one of the birds' ass. Hopefully he won't be installing a radio in the bird...... and that he'll keep it a Free Flight model. If he does do the install, watch out (and pray for the bird).

Maybe he'll back out of the project now that Alan has fixed the Super. Alan did a great job too!! Flies as good as it did before.

RB
