Well, it would be my first EDF model, but how well does it perform? And another thing is, how strong is the "Aero Cell" foam?

The foam is pretty good but I wouldn't recommend it for your first one. It stalls easily. Acts irratic in flight often. Seems to have an unbalanced fan right out of the box...on 2 so far. The hatch comes off in mid flight. The vert stab breaks every landing that is not greased. It is hard to land due to the fan right on the bottom and it digs into the ground. I am not impressed at all. It needs a lot more R&D IMO.

Here is a video from the 2007 NEAT Fair. 6 bone stock Synapse models were flown through out the entire event...and offered as "try me" samples to anyone that was interested.

I'm very good at landing, with the tail touching first, so landing wouldn't be a problem. I don't know about the fan, but i'm sure I can fix it. The canopy, is a simple fix, with tape, or a small CA hinge, epoxied in the front. I'm not too sure about the vert. stab. but I might give it a try. Besides, I can always get some other small EDF, if I crash this one, such as an XPD-8, because of the drop in electronics.

I was at the the hobby shop yesterday and there was synapse rxr in stock now she is ready to go except it is raining in nebraska the wind has been blowing for three days. I have a new toy that i can't play with. Great plane didn't mess around with the stickers you get to big sheets that is what I've been doing with my little space ship please stop raining. This little plane is so cool I can't wait to fly it.

I would have to disagree with some of the negative remarks. I am working on 25+ flights and have been very pleased w/performance. It isn't too bad when launching, only had a problem on maiden and it was more due to adjustment errors. Guy at my LHS told me to make sure ailerons are adjusted for more lift than recommended and I forgot. Quite stable, even at low speeds, lands just fine with no damage yet to induction unit, rolls are impressive and flies around 65-70mph. The servos are junk though - put my own in.

Good, good. I was thinking about it. But looks like I'm veering more towards a multiplex funjet.

Does anyone know which is faster, the Synapse or the Parkzone F27C Brushless?

I'm not 100% sure about straight stock to stock. It's hard to compare two completely different airframes, but I know the f-27C Brushless will outperform in most areas, has much more lift, and more potential for top speed. The f-27C can be tuned with different pitch props, and is larger, too. If into heavy modding and ultra speed runs, I'd recommend the F-27.

The ducted fan models are more limited. The ducted fans must trade-off more between top speed and actual thrust. Top Speed is cool, but if you can't pull unlimited vertical climbs, then what fun is that? It seems the ducted fan models in stock form are almost perfect in their balance of thrust to top speed.

I hope to confuse you enough to spark another, more specific question. I own one of the two models in question, here.

It's never an easy answer on these forums !

Thanks for such great information! I own the F27C and I love it - mostly because it hauls and I haven't had to trick it out (but I'm open to suggestions). The Synapse looks faster in the videos, but another writer said it would do 65-70 mph (which is fast, but not "Stryker fast" . I'm not the best or most patient builder, but I love speed, which is why the Synapse caught my eye!

Try this thread for taking your f-27 to the dark side....and beyond!

I don't see a Synapse ever going this fast!

The ARF kit is a piece of JUNK!

Right out of the box and the paint or whatever started coming off; do not even think of getting the plane damp because the paint & decals come off. The tail ring was broken and the fan blade had a crack in it. Then there was the Rimfire inrunner motor...

The manual recommends a 25 amp speed controller but make sure what you get fits. I ended up putting the 25a ESC in my mini Ultra Stick.

It looks like the ARF kit is put together with left over RXR parts or RXR parts that are not good enough for the RXR kit. This is not the first bad kit I have gotten from Great (mediocre) Planes. This is not just Great Planes but Horizon as well; I had an ARF kit come apart while flying - Horizon replaced that one.

Never again!
