I never even cosidered this a possibility. We all know how hard it is to pull a crystal from a receiver. Well, apparently its not that hard. I was just hovering, minding my own business and suddenly lost all control of my heli. Upon ariving at the mass of wreckage, I found that the reason that I lost control was that the crystal decided to eject itself from this obviously frightening flight. After reassembling my twisted bird, needless to say, I securely taped my crystals in all of my flying machines. I am still amazed.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that ever happened to! When it happened to me, I was in the front yard, and had just landed. Next thing you know, no control. The engine idled up quite a bit, but the pitch didn't. I managed to sneak up behind it, and gently lift the tail up. I eventually got my hands under it and lifted it above my head and pulled the fuel line. (I know, I should have just held the tail, but it was real freaky!!!)
I now tape all of my crystals in as well!!!!

You have to tape/glue anything that is not bolted to the heli frame... Did you also tape the servo wires to the transmitter? And tape the extension cords?

it happened to me in an r/c car, luckily it didn't cost too much to repair.in my heli i'm using a sanwa receiver and this has a small plastic guard that will stop the crystal from vibrating out.

My first flight of my caliber 30 in my side yard did the same thing. I was hovering about three feet high when it quit responding to me. It continued to hover for 15 or 20 seconds but was starting to move towards my neighbors caddy. I was about to throw the tx into it to keep it from hitting his car. As it moved it lost altitude and sat down in the grass. I grabbed the tail and tipped it up till I was able to reach under and pull the fuel line off. It scared the hell out of me but I had no other way to kill it. They are all taped in now. It took over an hour to find that crystal in the grass!. No more hovering in the yard!
