Status: offline 		I am looking at building a 78" Katana plane that I have plans for and was wondering if a DA-50 would be too much motor for it. The plane has a 78" wingspan, 75" in length, weight stated is 12lbs. It has a 1/4" firewall that I think might have to be beefed up, 1/8" lite ply sides which I need some feedback on. Also I was going to build up a set of foam/balsa covered wings instead of using a built up wing, any feedback there would be appreciated. It has a stick frame stab/rudder, could I make a airfoiled elevator/rudder instead? If so how do I determine the shape and size needed? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I like to scratch build and have not come across many 50cc sized planes, if anyone knows of a YAK or Extra that has planes available let me know.

Status: offline 		Not sure if you are posting in the IMAC section because they are to be IMAC planes?

Either way a DA 50 on a 12 pound plane is way overkill and completely unneccessary... have I seen it done? Sure.. but why bother... its beyond foamy power. I would be looking at smaller engines for it.
