I need to look into a different tail boom. The one I have now is carbon, but it is so heavy compared to the one's I’ve read about here. Mine are not lighter than the stock tail. Other than that, I am going to leave it the way it is now. I only plan to fly this around the house, so it does not need to be that aggressive anyways. Plus it looks cool

I have an Eflite cp pro that is bone stock. And I plan on using that to learn on outside. I will also get a T-rex before long. Most of my learning will be on realflight.

So, to have a decked out cx2, to only goof off with is pretty cool. It still does a good job hovering, and when I am outside, it will climb up to around 15 - 20 feet or so without much of a problem. I am still learning all of the moves, but with what I’ve seen so far, it should not be a problem to perform them with my set-up.

I took it to my LHS and the guy that was working there bad mouthed it until I told him to fly it, then he was impressed by the way it flew. . He had it doing all kinds of cool stuff.

I am into a lot of hobbies and the one thing I like to do is upgrade. I like being a little different. Most of the stuff that I get into, the first thing to compare is weight. R/c cars, R/C trucks, Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes it's always there, no matter what it is. I don't think upgrading has made me better or worse, in any hobby so far.
I am new to helis, so I have a lot to learn but, I have already spent the money on upgrading my cx2 and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a cool looking cx2. I don't really care if people think it's worth upgrading or not.

Today, I went and asked my LHS for upgrades for my CP pro, and they told me it's not worth upgrading it who is it not worth upgrading to, him or me? I can assure you that it is for me and I will order the stuff online. He just lost out on a few hundred bucks.
Anybody that is willing to spend the money should be able to do so, without having to feel like an outcast.

For those out there that wants to upgrade, please do so, and don't worry about what "someone" is going to say. Chances are, the only reason that "someone" is going to tell you not to do it, is because they can't afford to do it to theirs and they don't want you to have one that is better.

I am sorry to rant on, but that guy at the hobby shop got me pretty upset today. This was not to attack anyone here, it's just me venting.
Thanks for listening and let me know how much I owe ya for this session

Eddie

Wolfpackin, Yeah, I told ya I was addicted....! I'am cuurently in a moving process that is going to lead me to Cali. My real dad lives there with whom I never met. He left when I was three. I'am 37. (Go to weeeeee.....cp) my life story and pic of me is all over and back through there). Until this last April he finally was able to track me down, and we met then. We talk everyday, and currently am just doing side jobs here and there working for myself Landcsping. I'll even have the laptop with me at a jobsite at pick up a wireless connection..lol. I leave Oct 25th. My time will rest here for awhile (if I can stand it) Anyway, took the last month off pretty much, got to wrap up a lot of things and such...If your interested, do a search through that thread, that way I don't have to repeat myself, and CX2 flying time Is easy...Wake up before light=no wind=fly. Before dark=No wind fly. And anytime in between. If there is a will, theres a way..And I guess I'am more committed than most. They say I'am obsessive compulsive, in everything I do..Work,play or typing on here, or helping others. I get focused on something, I indulge an amazing amount of energy to it. A perfectionist..I try. But makes me mad at the same time, because I can never do all what I want. Expectations high. My mind overpowers my body...Anything else just ask. I'll write ya a book and you'll be amazed friend.. Jeff

Ekleverich, yeah I was going to get one of Jamie's booms today, but decided to hold off for a bit..The m3-11 grams. I need lighter...Going to try and construct one that hopefully would be 7-8 grams, but I could be dreaming. If I fail, I'll then get Jamie's, as his are the best, in my opinion.. Jeff

this is alot like the boom that I have. I bought it at Hobbytown USA
http://www.readyheli.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=ESPH1000

I will def. consider the one you linked when I break my current one, if it ever breaks.
I've also considered just buying the rods and making my own, but that may never happen.

J-MICHAEL,

Interesting story, good luck with your trip and what sounds like a new life.
I'm sure the heli's will fly in CA too.
I asked my wife if she knew where "sec-we-im" was...she said "scwim".
She's from Yakima, WA.

And it sure is an addiction, my family misses me.

What's the best way to weigh the heli? My kitchen scale just isn't precise enough apparently. I have changed out most of the stock items including:

Alum. Swash plate
Alum. Upper rotor head
Alum. Lower rotor head
Alum. Bearing joint
Alum. Battery Tray (this one you could feel it was heavy just by hand)

Complete new lower frame/boom/tail/canopy (you can see picts here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5050931/mpage_65/key_/tm.htm )

... it's heavy. Flight times are reduced and pull-out power is noticeably different. However, it does fly a lot better outside in wind than before... I can now fly in 1.5 mph wind instead of 1.0... sweet. But most importantly, it looks good and bling does have currency over performance sometimes. : )

Anyone ever test the payload of the CX2? That will give us some guidance on what is the weight limit and how much of it we can eat up for upgrades.

Khatsalano,

I went to a local smoke shop and bought a pocket type .5 gram scale. You can also get them online, just do a search for one. I paid 25.00 for mine

Wolfpackin, thank-you very much....At first I might have got a negative vibe from your remark, but I just take things to personal sometimes that's all...Gone through some rough times lately, and this helps to keep my mind sane I suppose...Your one of the few on here from my begining adventures, that I listen to carefully. Your knowledge is definately more than mine, I'am trying and advancing however, thanks to you and others. I've always wanted to help others, so with what little I know I try...You see that when I step in first to try. And then you guys, chime in and got my back..It takes a good person for that. Not to many people would care or try, to help out someone who is new and asking for help in this hobby...That's neat your wife is from Yakima...Wow, small world. Yeah Sequim is a beautiful place. It's on the Olympic Peninsula, here on the west coast of Washington. Some of the worlds biggest trees are here, and lots of nature with the mountains right to the side, with Puget sound right on the other...Google-Earth it if your ever interested... Keep up your good work, and take care, Jeff.

P.S.-- I always had liked your pics of your CX2 with the scenery in the background...You should feel lucky and grateful to live in such a beautiful place...Never take it for granted...

Definately none intended, just a light-hearted remark. We really never had a direct exchange and it was my way of introducing myself.

Your knowledge is definately more than mine,

I don't know about that.
This CX/CX2 thing hasn't been around that long and there are only few "old timers" We, and they, know who they are. But I think we are really all learning at the same time. Most of this information is happening now, archives, help pages and wiki's are just starting to come together. I think most of us learn the basics real quick and then try to keep up with new products and ideas as we are interested. This internet forum stuff can be really powerful.

Thank you for the good words.
I lived my first 35 years in NY/NJ and worked in the World Trade Center for 10 yrs.
I've been in CO for about 7 yrs and don't worry, I'm reminded every day how lucky I am to be here. Best life decision I've made!

So, I wish you the best of luck with your new life.

...And enough of this mushy stuff.

Back to our original programming:

I'm still really interested in the conclusion of the MicroHeli vs. E-Flite weights.
Unless I missed something here's what we have.

Upper Head & Shaft: MicroHeli=? E-Flite=5.63
Bearing and Cup: MicroHeli=.70 E-Flite=.69
Lower Head: MicroHeli=1.30* E-Flite=2.47
Swashplate: MicroHeli=3.20 E-Flite=4.35 (avg.)

*ekleverich: Are you sure about that weight?
And we still need the upper head and shaft. Anyone?

Wow, I didn't realize there would be such a big difference in the weights, with the two....I wish I would have researched this more before I just jumped into E-Flites aluminum.....Yeah I wish we had the weight of the upper rotor head...Weight is becoming important to me now that's all... Thanks Wolfpackin I copied and pasted that info, Have a good one, Jeff

Thanks Eddie,

Just checking because of the difference between it and the E-Flite part (1.17g).
Do you have the MH upper head and shaft?
