I'm watching the little one while the wife makes a few trips. Once she gets home, it's game on. It'll probably take about 3 days to complete the front Fuse.

Day 1# set left and Right fuse side, and epoxy to former 3+4+ sides of frame.
Day 2# Epoxy front of Fuse together
Day 3# Epoxy in firewall, and extra bracing.

Should get step 1 done tonight....good luck to both of us.

Yes-'gassers'need to be "wet" to start or its:flip,flip,flip,flip... and the propeller MUST be balanced;no question-The first picture shows my balancing set up got it cheap from Doug's hobbies when they moved to Hollywood....

Well the right wing panel is going fast (for me at least) the photo sequence shows the steps taken per instructions to add the leading edge sheeting. Will be SO nice to frame the fuselage and then get lost in the finish details....

I didn't get as far tonight as I wanted to. I only got the 1/4 x 3/8 sticks epoxied to the left&right fuse sides, along with the top plate glued and sticks epoxied to them. I didn't want to rush the front end set-up, as failure at that point would be disasterous, with a gas engine on the front. Tommorrow I'm heading down to lowes to buy about 6 each 3 in C-clamps. Then I'll be able to do some serious epoxing.

Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll be mounting some landing gear so I can get this beast stable and on by work table. I'm still trying to decide on what to do with the landing gear. I really don't want to pony up the $50.00 for the 1 peice landing gear. I'll see as I'm working on that area if there might be a different alternative to that, so far I've not thought of anything.

Hi CrateCruncher -

I'm also inclined to use Titebond in preference to CA. Any helpful hints ?

Hello Jim,
Aside from sheeting the concave complex 'turtle deck,'if you chose the "Razor back version,"the Thunderbolt is a piece of cake-as a matter of fact I have enjoyed flying my 1/7 (I have both the 1/7&1/5) ...that I have another 1/7 63" wing span version and will frame it up over the winter and more than likely do it up as "Lucky" one of the late Capt. Robert S. Johnson's earlier mounts that he flew with the 56th FG

Well glue setting up and will be able to remove the right wing from the bench-Huuuraaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Red1 Titebond is great stuff needless to say just expect more pins and more clamps -

jaaron01: "C clamps" for sure-curious what you and others do regarding modifications if any to the landing gear. (keep us posted!)

Several Stinsons flown in my club and I plan on contacting one of the builder fliers to ask what if any modifications he did to the Reliants landing gear which supports a 'G-38.'

I would be curious as what they have to say about the landing gear. Most I've heard from have upgraded to the one-peice gear.

Red1,
The most important hint I can think of regarding Titebond is don't buy it in tiny 2oz bottles from hobby outlets for $4.50. It's a rip-off. I buy it by the pint (16oz) at home improvement stores for $7.95. Heck, a gallon (128oz!) is only $19.00 bucks. That should last a while even building planes with 100" wingspans.

Edit: Here's a recent thread:http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6132271/tm.htm

Grotesquebass: Thanks to cheap old walmart, my fuse is glued and drying. C-Clamps $1.97 each x 6. Here's a couple of photos not much to look at just C-clamps as far as the eye can see. Should be able to put the firewall in tommorrow morning, and before the weekend is out hopefully some landing gear braces.
