Hello Viking I suggest to follow the Top Flite Stinson Reliant kit's VERY GOOD construction manual following the instructions in sequence to the letter...do as I say not as I do- The big deal seems to be the landing gear and its ability in stock form to take a mediocre landing or a rough surface...

One post a while back (and They Are WELCOME), was posted AFTER I set aligned and glued on the horizontal stabilizer to the fear fuselage as per instructions ,however it is a :Builders Kit) so you the builder must be experienced in setting up the flying surfaces to be in 'correct' alignment with each other,by 'trammeling and through the use of builders Triangles,Robart's Incidence meter (wonder if they improved it over the early one I had- Well hope this helps in any event simply go back through this thread and we have your question covered...I had plenty

Fast Richard - I read that you are going to put the throttle servo under the cowl. I understand that it will be in front of the firewall.
Do you plan to put the servo inside a box ?

Hi igal, no I do not ,it just does not seem necessary. Certainly would appreciate your thoughts though.

Well basically I need to drill and tap the engine mount for the OS 200 which is 'tack glued' to it presently..

(I found some of my VERY old photos from a photo service that still offers walk around photos of full scale aircraft)---any ways using the "latest" in scanner techniques I scanned a few pictures that should be helpful to all doing a Reliant build.

Thanks Richard for the reply. It's been through reading this thread that makes me want to start on this great aircraft again. You're doing a beautiful job on yours, I gotta say.

Hi Richard. The fuel can melt the plastic of the servo wires. I will try to put the servo behind the fire wall or inside a box in front of it.

Fast Richard: I've not been able to get out in the garage to much, as my shop partner "3 Year old" decided to get pnuemonia, and i've been a little busy with that. As for the spinner, you need the AT-6 spinner that is sold by tower hobbies, it's around $50.00, and sets the plane off.

Did happen to get a little flying in this morning, 1 mph wind, and 45 degree's, my "Cub" was chomping at the bits to fly, and boy did she. There's nothing better than early morning, no wind, shooting touch-n-goes. Of course the warm weather here has brought out some of the "rusty" flyers as well. Those that haven't flown, or touched there equipment since last fall. Always' makes for an interesting time, for those of us that fly all year. We just set back and help those who need help, and laugh / cry with those that are beyond help.

What a fun sport we have. We had about 25 folks out this morning, and you name it, we seen it before lunch time was over.

I'm hoping now that my shop partner is back on the mend, I can get in the garage get the doors open and start doing some "Bondo" on my plastic parts. Also start spreading some filler on the fuselage and get ready for some covering. First week of June is the deadline for flight.........keep the photo's coming.

I don't think it will be a problem at all, allowing the servo leads ARE NOT constantly in contact with 'raw' fuel as opposed to that terrible thing called oil-I have a gasser and both 2700 Ma NiM 6v packs are on the fire wall or engine box if you will and -------0---------problems ;of corse it helps to ensure there are no exhaust leaks and such with in the engine compartment.

To cover my '6' I will drill and fit a ' Sullivan products Nyrod outer push rod sleeve just in case.

Igal I LOVE posting pictures(so much cheaper than film/scanner...So- here is a "picture of the outer NyRod." blue in color- The other is braided Steel throttle cable running through ,what else a "Nylon rod...gee"

Well I really must cut out the doors on the Stinson today, since I can't do any good weather related activity because we are having April showers and God bless them and Heston's work as an actor 'playing' Moses-

Photo's you provided should help me some with the rib stitching, thanks. I see the packaging for the cockpit interior, what's the damage so far. Any progress with the interior? Eager to see what you come up with. Also looking forward to seeing your doors.

Well the doors is the page I want to be on so to speak, however the detail of installing the engine mount, the engine and then trimming/sanding the rear edge of the cowl is straight forward enough but its messy as you cut and fit and sight ...and and and as you want to -O-in the engines back plate with the front cowl and I used the time tested eye ball method 'just like a full scale Luscombes gear were done So by way of eye balling things look to me be close . There is more to be done on the cwl installation needless to say and its time to cut the doors though as I said I would do it today ...
