Igal-If you put your plane in a dive with half-a-tank for 10-15 seconds, what happens? Your clunk isn't able to move to the front of the tank, only the back. Your clunk should be able to move easily from side-to-side the width of the tank, obviously not the length of the tank.

For sure use what your most comfortable with, that's whats important. I'm sticking with the one tank, and sideways.

Jim

Jim - when you put the tank per instructions and there is less than half of the fuel, try to think what will happed if you make a 10-15 seconds of a left turn.
I am going to put two 10OZ tanks connected one after the other, both in the normak position.

You guys are giving me more excuses to just stick the tank in. If I had a seat and a pilot IT would be me and IT would be a 1-1 Stinson Reliant and I could persuade my kid brother to hanger it and just put his existing 1-1 1940 Taylor Craft out side on a tie down[ well any ways..... nice dream. LOL

Now right now me after having the most frustrating with the local MVA I some how 'managed' to get every thing in order and will soon have my new to me model airplane transport

Jim - this is a Stinson you don't dive with it for 15 seconds. ( I do it with my TF Spitfire)
I talked with two friends of mine - they both agreed that if I'll put the tank sideway it will cause problems sometimes in the future (or not [ )
On the other hand - I saw x-craft thread, he put his tank sideways with no problems, so I'll have to re concider it....

Tim (x-craft) has been flying his Stinson for a few years, now. I''ve never seen him have a problem.

I''ve flown it, too. You guys are gonna love it !!!

Well I decieded to mount the fuel tank per plan, based on all infromation (TKS)...not that I have installed it yet!

Since my airplanes are getting bigger I needed a bigger vehicle and picked it up Sunday I like it and it was owned by a pilot and yada yada yada. A couple pictures while the van was checked out;after which my brother took me up again in his 1940 Taylor Craft ,as it was still VFR

Well I got back on the Stinsons doors and all is working out (finally) and think I can move forward on this project. Every ones Stinsons look great,no question-

I decided to take your advice and put the 24OZ tank sideways but I'll put it in about 20 degrees angle so on left turns the tank will be leveled.

Hi igal glad to read your post and others and it seems mounting side ways is a okay if some preventive measures are used.

I've been on another project lately but its working out so I will continue my particular build soon. Looking forward to covering this one.

Jim looking forward to seeing your Stinson in the completion stage,so far you have done every thing to the 9s (who says 10s? )

Jim, Fast Richard - can you please post few pics of the landing gear hatch ? I wonder how you did it and how you connected the hatch to the fuse.

Igal- I didn't do the 1 piece gear, so no photo to show of a hatch. I just back back to the Illinois, and listening to my wife tell about the earthquake. I was out of town doing a little training with my job.

Hopefully I can get settled back in, and start back on the stinson. I should be ordering my engine monday....G-38....

welcome back Jim:what earthquake

Well I received my Pink It Pinking Tape and its in two widths and each roll is over 60 FEET long ,certainly something for me to look forward to during the covering stage over the spring and into the summer I'm sure.

Today was an interesting day at the club field with a new Kinner Sportster powered by a Webra 3.2 Bully I think and I got in a couple flights the wind was weird but we all went with it.

Igal- I decided to post some 'Wylan Drawings,' in hopes of helping answer your question, regarding the (gear hatch) by photographing and posting a portion of the drawing which shows the Srs undercarriage"access" panel" for the full scale Gull wing . I'm indeed sure you can best figure type and mounting of this relatively simple yet scale access hatch for ...landing gear maintance on the Top Flite Reliants.

Well I got the doors close enough and started setting up the windshield frame used for the "earlier Stinson SR-7 and the 8 model as well...

The Hobbico Protractor made this easy...
