AND here is me working on the left wing still ...'my excuse being finishing a repair' on another project-'

While adding the cap strips to the ailerons found this "alignment jig," very useful and a time saver, when trying to ensure the aileron caps are lined up with the corresponding wing ribs.

There is an increasing amount of GREAT information being posted on this thread!

We'll I've got the Right Wing itself done, but working on the flaps and Ailerons. Almost got them done, just got to sand the angle's on them for proper delfection. I went ahead and added the metal tube to both wings and joined them on my table. Wow, what a wing!!! I can only imagine what she'll look like once the fuselage is placed in between those wings.

I'm still going to try and use the stock fairings that came with the kit. However I'm for sure going to sand the inside of them and line them with fiberglass cloth and epoxy. Hopefully that will help them stand up a little better to usage, and not crack so easily. And, if after a few flights it starts cracking, then I'll be forced to upgrade.

Fast Richard: You're going to have to step it up!! I'm so close to starting the fuselage formers I can taste them.

Jim

I have always noticed that for cooling, folks always cut just the bottom of the cowl out,,, I have always thought it made it look like it has a smiling face

The font? The photo taken from actual plane with origional marking. So don't know what they used in the 30's.

I have used the photo to make a color transparency water transfer and make markings. Then spraythin coat flat poly on top.
But it has been quite a while and the materials are a bit $$. I was thinking you could use the photo to form your print. Wish I could tell you more on making one.

Hello all

WhoDaMan thanks for the picture ,thats the version I'm planning on doing doing,an SR-7 with its distinctive windshield ,which I always I favored, not to mention the factory schemes of SR-7s and of course always liked the Stinson logo!

Jim :yea I'm falling behind but I was looking for a "stick kit" to build for the pleasure of it and wanted "another Reliant," after several War Birds and composite pattern aircraft so I'm enjoying this build AND I do believe the right wing will go pretty quick ..

Lexington Park glad you like the jig idea,me too! and congrats on the catch my brother is into fishing too!

Attached is a picture or two of my very old 'Sterling Models' Stinson SR-8 fuselage which has long been retired-

For the all important Stinson logo why not Try Gary at get stencils www.gary@getstencils.com YOU will be glad you did just give him a call and tell him Richard sent you.

Must of been done in my sleep ...pictured is the flap well under way:the instruction manual called for a (1/16" space)between the top of the flap leading edge and the top of the wing surface SO I used scrap 1/16 balsa slid in place before 'tack gluing' the flap L.E. to the wing flap T.E.

Its early so I will be sure to go over this increasing in length thread...and thats a good thing
