I'm using the 21st Century covering as well. I plan on taking a piece of the covering into one of the local auto parts stores that sell paint. A buddy of mine took his there, and they matched it with a computer program they have. Then they loaded it in a spray can for him as well. I'm going to go that route and see how it works out for me.
I have a TF Stinson SR-9 kit awaiting my finishing up my H9 AT-6 assembly(its an ARF). I also have a Pica Waco YMF-3 kit awaiting.
Pardon my ignorance. What are those black things your T pins appear to be stuck through?

Hello Red1 and welcome aboard-The 'black things,'are Rocket City UFOs called (pin clamps) --->to use simply insert a pin thru the center and press the pin clamp in place, the obvious advantage is the pin now has a greater surface and "clamps"the balsa sheeting, etc.,in place--As far as I know they are dis continued and what a shame

You might be able to do the painting of the trim. I'll have to admit, I've not done any painting though I'd like to one day. All of my masterpieces, if you can call them that, have been with monokote, and Century Fabric. Maybe someone else on this thread can answer the painting question. That would sure make doing the trim around the rudder easier. I was just planning to use Century fabric and bend it around the corners, I've done it before.
Any pro's out there with experience of putting paint on top of 21st Century Fabric??

In the words of Jack Sparrow "Problems arose, ensued, and were overcome!" This little problem took 3 marlboro's and a hot cup of coffee, along with 30 mins to figure out, if I can save someone some pain and agony, here goes:
Word to the wise about "Building the front of the fuse (Pg.30) Step #2." When they tell you " test fit the die-cut 1/8 plywood left bottom deck and the left forward fuse side to the fuse. Note that the forward fuse side must be notched to accomodate the cottom corner braces of former 3 and 4." This is a flusterating area because things will not line up as supposed to, but before you start notching anything out and scratching your head. Go ahead an move to step 4 and add the vertical former bracing to both sides of formers 3,4 and 5.
FYI...vertical former bracing is 1/8 inch thick. Simple math would say 2 x 1/8 = 1/4? So when you adding that to former #3 you gain 1/8 in on the back side of the former, thus why left forward fuse side (which key's into left bottom deck) is all off by 1/8 inch. See attached photo's and heed my advice, skip step #2 & #3 proceed to #4, the go back and due #2, and #3. At least this will not be visible once all is finished.
On a lighter note the Stab saddle turned out great!!! Jim

Hi guys: I've just been given a stinsin reliant (gold edition). The person that gave it to me had put into the weeds breaking off the landing gear and cowl. The gear fix is straight forward but the cowl is trashed. Need a new one. Where do iI go for a new one? Also need a manual. Can anyone steer me in the right direction.

When you get to this point, which probably wont be long. Let me know if you need better photo's to see how this thing fits. After I figured this thing out tonight, I kicked off for the evening. To much flustration was involved in that process, and ruint the rest of the evening.

Hi Bryan
Thanks for the welcome. If this thread is anything like the Waco YMF thread it will be great learning/teaching tool. I'm looking forward to monitoring this closely...and maybe even contributing from time to time.

Hi Richard,
FYI. I did a search on Google and came up with two items of interest concerning T pin clamps. 1) Go to http://www.tpbweb.com/media/catalog/311.pdf. There you will find an article entitled "How to Make Rocket City Pin Clamps". 2) At http://www.airfieldmodels.com/information_source/model_building_tips/tools.htm you will find a discussion of pin clamps. Supposedly Nelson Hobby Specialties, Keller, TX sells them [ RCL 55 Pin Clamp, 50/pkg, $3.19 ]. Just to be on the safe side I dropped them in inquiry questioning whether these were still available through them. I'll let you know asap. BTY, this article also explains how to make them.
