I'm just a little curious, but why do some of the radios for cars have three channels? I understand that steering and gas/brake each need one, but what would you use the third one for in a car application?

Thanks,
Steve

you can control 3 servos. In the MT world the 3rd channel is most commonly used for reverse. Some nitro boaters use it for remote needle.

In 1/5 scale cars you use one servo for steering, one servo for throttle and rear brakes, and one servo for front brakes... that's 3 servos.

Also monster trucks and other things can use 3 servos aswell.

Shifting a 2-speed tranny is a common use around these parts.
