Tangerine 2007
Get ready D3 and all others, Tangerine 2007 is scheduled take place at RCACF in Apopka, Florida, the weekend of December 8 & 9, 2007. To guarantee more pilots than last year's contest, I'm ordering mild weather, no crosswind, modifying the mandatory 30 meter landing zone rule and providing accurate directions to the pool hall. More info later. Most of you who attended last year already know where you'll be lodging. For those who need phone numbers for hotels near the field, let me know. I'll be distributing contest flyers at the Jacksonville contest this weekend.
This contest counts as 1st NSRCA points for 2008. FAI will fly P09 - F09.
Y'all come.

RE: Tangerine 2007
Event Flyer is posted on club's website: www.rcacf.com. Tried unsuccessfully to attach to previous RCU post.
Field will be open Friday Dec 7th for practice and pre-registration.
Closest hotel to field is HoJo's on Hwy 441 (N. Orange Blossom Trail) near Apopka, FL. Best Western, Red Roof & Marriott hotels are in Ocoee, FL, just off Florida Turnpike on SR 50. Of course, there are hundreds of places to stay near the attractions, which are within a 1 hour's drive (weekend traffic) from the field.
Need more information, please call me at home after 5:00 pm @ (407)294-1436, or e-mail: [email protected]

A little over one month to go until Tangerine 2007. Since Saturday's lunch is on the Club's nickle, how about giving me an idea on how many pilots are planning on attending.
Thanks,

Steve,
Chris and I are planning on being there Friday mid morning. We are planning on coming in the camper trailer if you could think about a place at the field for us to park.
Thanks

Larry;
There's space for camping trailers at both ends of our parking lot. No hookups, but we do have electricity. Billy Meadows and Jamie Strong both have camped out at our club's field.

5 days and counting down to Tangerine 2007. Extended weather forecast for Central Florida calling for sun & clouds mix, mild temps (20 degrees warmer than last year). Never know what Mother Nature has in store for us in the wind department. Crosswinds are the norm @ RCACF.
F.Y.I. = Space Shuttle Launch scheduled for 4:30 pm on Thursday, Dec. 6th. Clear view from the field.

Billy,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your Integral. I guess there was no way of knife edging it to the ground, huh?
We'll miss you at Tangerine.

Sorry to hear about your plane. I remember Levi Simms had a similar experience in Nashville, forgot the wing bolt, only this one acted like a slow motion gyro copter wings rotated and the more throttle input the slower it came down. He ended up getting it down, rotated wings back, installed wing bolt and flew the contest. that sure would have been a good one for YouTube but everyone just had thier jaw dropped watching, not to mention we did not have YouTube then . There are a few out there who remember that one.
Steve, I will not be able to make it either. I hope next year. Hope everyone has a great time.
Take care
Bryan

Yep I remember that Bryan....that's how he got the name "Lucky Levi" ! That's one of those most unforgettable moments in life, where you see it and you KNOW years down the road, nobody will believe it without video.... LOL
Sucks that Billy wasn't that lucky though.
Bryan I hope you are able to get a little practice and make a dominant return to advanced next season!

RE: Tangerine 2007
Guys,
I can't make it down this year although I really wanted to. Last year was great! Especially all the after-hours stuff with Mike, Mellissa, Marcio, Gary and Dean (that was the BEST part!!!). I want to get all the loose ends tied up here on the home front so that next season I can get back to having some serious fun. I'm almost caught up with that. I just finished re-organizing my entire workshop. I can actually find ALL of my tools now! I'm going to the NATs this year for sure so I'll see everyone there. All of you D2 + D3 guys should think about making a road-trip up to D1 some time next season. We have a lot of contests so take your pick. We'd love to see you guys up here! I'm gonna miss the warm Florida weather (yes even last year was warm for us Northerners) - it's been about 15-20 degrees at night and about 30 during the day here in Connecticut this past week. Yup, it's definitely building season. Have fun everyone, I know you'll have a great contest - hope to see some of you up here in D1 next season.
