Looks like it's drying out here so a first flight might be feasible on Sunday.

Then again I might just want to get the thumbs loosened up om something else before I let the beast loose! Will be a high pucker factor when I take der(?) Ziegelstein to the end of the strip

Good luck, Terry. I'm sure it'll go well. By the way, what prop are you using w/ that OS125ax? That's the same engine I'll be using.
I plan to try to move everything as far forward as I can get it. We'll see if I can save some nose weight.
Thanks
Al

Well, then it's time to se what’s left of my old school English, this is my first post here on RC Universe.
Really like this building thread, it has given me a lot of great ideas for my reasently bought KMP FW-190. That tail retract Curt used looks really great, like it a lot.
Anyone knows if there still any Tail Retracts left at Sierra Giant Scale?
I have send 3 emails to Sierra and one PM directly to Darrel here on RC Universe but still no answer. I really want to buy one.
Does anyone know if there is any other scale tail retracts or fixed tail gear for FW-190 1:6 scale to buy?
What’s most important is the scale look and that it could be shipped to Sweden. It not necessary to be retractable.

If anyone is planning on using the Sierra tail wheel, I have attached some pics that might help. It took a bit of head scratching to install it. Luckily, my piece of wood that the rudder attaches to was not glused in well, so I got it off to get access to the inside of the fin.

How are you planning to connect the siderudder linkage with the tailgear for stearing?
Are you going to use the provided wire linkage or do you have any better solution?
I'm now planning for my own building, have earlier tonight ordered the same tailgear from Darrell at Sierra Giantscale as you use mike-rc .

I used a pull-pull cable system for both the tail gear and the rudder. I used some fiberglass horns on the rudder instead of the kit supplied ones. I think the kit intends for you to use a pull-pull setup for the rudder, not a pushrod on one side. the 2 tubes are for the elevators. By the way, the fiberglass pushrods in the kit had too much binding, so I repaced them with 2-56 rods. If KMP would have criss crossed the tubes they might have been ok, but the way the tubes are installed there is too much of a bend.
The tailgear cables are connected to the same arm as the rudder cables, and they are set so they have slack when the gear is up, and are taught when extended. I can post some pics next week so you can see how I did it.

Ompa, For some reason Darrell is not answering his E-Mails. I called him and ordered a tail retract over a week ago. Talked to him on wed. and said he was finishing a few sets up. He said it should ship Thursday but I haven't seen it yet. If it doesn't show up the first of the week will call again. I can't do any more till it shows up.

Oompa,

If you decide not to go with the tailwheel retract take a look at a Dubro scale tail. I fitted one of these as I didn't want the weight or complexity of a retract. Not as sexy as the SIerra but better than the bent wire in the kit.

I carved up the bracket and ran it on an internal pull-pull that I was able to instal through a hole I cut at the bottom of the rudder post.
