I am building the same kit and I have some doubts regarding engine installation. I am using an spe 26 gasoline engine. In the instructions manual does not say anything regarding engine downthrust and right side incidence. The firewall does not have any incidence built at it so I am having doubts how much incidence should I have to make. I am installing the engine at the same position as DVS1 (you can see the pictures at post number 275, page 11 of this thread).

Thank you

Hey Nicostoffi .... have you had a taxi run or a flight yet ?.
Waiting to see how the 170 goes.

All the best Steffan.

No, sorry to say this.

I'll try to do this weekend.

Dont add or take anything away all the necessary thrusts lines are built in.

Ompa -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (6/11/2008 10:44:20 PM)

I have today ordered a pair of Sierra Giant Scale main retracts and scale rims for my KMP FW-190.
[sm=drowning.gif] My question is now where i can find matching rubber tires for my rims so i can get a complete pair of wheels? [sm=confused.gif]

Airscrew -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (6/12/2008 6:08:51 AM)

I use the Robart Scale wheels in 4". They fit a little bit tight, but with oil it's possible to put them on the rims.

Thanks Airscrew

Hi Guys, things have been quite ont hes tread for the past few weeks.... Whats up?

What glow engines would you guys recommend/ have found to work well with the FW. i was thinking that a Saito 180 might work.

I originally had my sights on a Sait 170 R3 bur reading here I will reconsider

Cheers

mobyal -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/17/2008 7:31:36 PM)

Just about to start on mine. Waiting for the servos, battery etc to get here which should be early next week.
I plan to use an OS125AX w/ Slimline Pitts style muffler.

Redback -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/18/2008 6:59:58 AM)

Still happy with the 120AX in mine. I used a standard Pitts Muffler rather than a slimline, you don't need slimline inside the FW cowl. I have mine installed at 135 degrees, but could probably have done sidewinder just as well.

One of the guys at our club has had a heap of problems with a 120AX + slimline Pitts in a KMP Spitfire (mounted inverted).

I have one of the KMP spinners coming from the UK, interesting to see what it looks like. Also ordered an ME109 today to extend my Luftwaffe! Gonna get some Sierras for this one though.

Terry

Ompa -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/18/2008 8:26:34 AM)

My build start goes slow, to slow [&o]
Can’t explain why but it must be the time I spent on the airfield since my KMP P-47 "Big Stud" was finished [:D] It flies great.
Done some slow progress whit rebuild the flaps for more scale like appearance. I hope to get them finished today or tomorrow so I can continue build the wing.
Also plan to make a jumpstart on my cockpit kit and prime it this weekend and start to cutout the pieces and paint it.
As son as the winghalves are joined toghether, i gona start build up the cockpit. I also have some planes to make the canopy to be opening and closeable (Don’t know if it calls retractable in English or what)
In about two weeks i gona be at one of Swedens largest rc meetings, but after that i really gonna get my self a kick in the aft and put some fire to my building.

Thaba Raptor -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/18/2008 10:07:45 AM)

Hi guys,

I have a September Fury with a St G2300, and both the Spitfire and Me -109 (previous versions) with OS 120 AX's. Seems that I will have go back to the trusty recipe..... for the FW-190. Pitty I will ow have to run 2 blade props on 2 stroke.

Regards

Thaba Raptor

PSJDBF -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/21/2008 4:02:47 PM)

Found this vid the other day of a Saito 170R3 powered ESM bearcat.
Seemed to have enough power to fly this model in a scale manner so
still planning on trying the 170 in my Willhobby 190 (with alittle weight
reducing experimentation).
All the best Steffan.

jamessymons -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/23/2008 8:55:03 AM)

Hi

I am busy finishing off my FW190. I am going to be converting it to electric using an Axi 5330/18 and 2 * 5000Mah packs. When installing the motor I noticed that using the centerlines drawn on the firewall the centre of the motor does not line up with the centre of the cowling. Did anybody else notice this and drop the level of the motor to match the center of the cowl.

Kind Regards

James

Ompa -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/23/2008 9:01:26 AM)

I had the same problem whit my KMP P47D Thunderbolt. On that model there was an ability to mix whit the cowl to get the engine centered in the cowl.

mobyal -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/23/2008 2:08:06 PM)

Hmmm. Bet he didn't have to add a whole lot of weight up front to balance it!

jamessymons -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (7/24/2008 7:15:14 AM)

Here's hoping !

jamessymons -> RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread (8/17/2008 5:18:23 PM)

She flies !!!!! The Axi pulls her around the sky with authority at just over half throttle !
